Guys & Girls:
Everyone is just so friendly. Many people do have outdated styles in clothing but there is a large population of fashionable people. Interaction between the male and females mainly revolve around dating. Dating is greatly promoted by BYU professors, students, and faculty. One's social life can be boring if you do not make the effort to have fun and make friends. It's all about perspective.

There is basically no drug use on-campus at BYU. Students have an obligation to report any student who is misusing or using drugs. However, that doesn't mean that drugs cannot be bought and sold outside of BYU. There is a severe punishment for those caught using drugs. Socially, there is no peer pressure, visibility, or usage.

I would give BYU an A- only because it is so hard to find out about programs and HOW to actually get involved. There are thousands of things to do, but it is so hard to get that initial step taken. Other than that it is clean and beautiful.

Parking on campus is a nightmare. Unless you live in a different city there is no point in trying to park on campus. By the time you find a spot and get to class it takes the same time or even longer then walking to class from the furthest apartment. Tickets don't cost that much, but parking is strictly enforced and you will get a ticket.

Financial Aid is hard to get while attending BYU because the tuition is very low already. However, many students do struggle to pay for school because they are paying for it themselves. It is best to meet with the financial aid office to get better instructed.

If you are looking for bars, clubs, and parties that are full of beer and party music, then you are looking in the wrong place. BYU has it's fill of other nightlife activities that do not involve those things.

The school enforces a strict honor code which must be adhered by everyone who is a member or non-member. If a student is not dressed properly or groomed properly, that student can be asked to leave a classroom or refused a test at the testing center. If a serious crime is committed such as drinking, drugs, or pre-marital sex, the offender would have to confront the honor-code office and action is taken from there. The best option is not to participate in the forbidden activities because students also have a duty to report other students who are breaking school rules.

Heavy snows during the winter, but then it gets crazy hot during the summer. Spring and fall are really nice, though.

Provo is starting to get more exciting spots to hang out on the weekends, but there still arent many. There is a mall and a movie theather and things to do and Salt Lake is pretty close as well to do things.

BYU's campus is beautiful. Not only are all the buildings modern and clean, the landscaping is BEAUTIFUL and very well taken care of. The library has lots of different study options including a snack zone, quite area, no shh zone etc. There is always something going on around campus!

There are open access computer labs all over campus. They have both Mac and Windows computers so you can choose. I have never had a problem finding a computer when I needed one.

Because it is an LDS school there are tons of spiritual activites on campus. I really love all the devotionals. It really keeps me focused throughout the week

There aren't many options here. The vending machines do have a lot of options though not many are very healthy. Not to mention there is no cafein anywhere on campus.

The majority of the students at byu are LDS but there is a ton of diversity. We have people here from all over the world and its such a cool experience to get to learn from them what other parts of the world are like. People here are mostly conservative but usually don't get in each others faces about it.

The academics at byu are absolutely fantastic. The campus is beautiful and there are places all over to study and hang out. The library is awesome. I've loved all of my professors. The workload is pretty heavy and I've had to spend a lot of time studying but that's what makes the academics so great here.

BYU has an honor code in place that each student signs before entrance into the school. In the honor code we give our word to not to use drugs or alcohol. There is no pressure to do drugs or drink while on campus. Even off campus I have never been pressured with drugs or alcohol.

I received a good amount of financial aid but the process was somewhat confusing. My suggestion is to send an email or something explaining the process thoroughly. I wasn't sure exactly how or when the financial aid would come through or show up.

I love being a sociology major. There are so many opportunities and great chances for internships and studying abroad! I am also minoring in international development and women's studies. While both are underfunded, the professors and staff are doing the best they can. I am hoping to pursue a degree in gender studies and I believe BYU and the opportunities it provides will help me go on to graduate school.

Computers are all over the place at BYU. There are printing stations in every building and printing costs aren't too bad. It can get a little busy at lunch time, but I have never had a problem finding a spot. Connecting to the internet is usually pretty easy, but is virtually unavailable in the basement of a few buildings.

BYU is known for being a very conservative, religious, and ignorant college community. While there are definitely cases of this that may be faced, there is an immense amount of diversity at BYU. We have international students from all over the world and the majority of the student body has lived abroad for two years while serving as missionaries for the LDS Church. The most difficult thing to face is that most people come from very wealthy families with very similar upbringings. Overall, however, I think the BYU community is very accepting and welcoming to all.

There are SO many incredible students at BYU, so financial aid is hard to come by. I applied for a scholarship every year and only got a half tuition scholarship for one semester in my 4 years.

I had a very good experience at BYU. I was surrounded by people who, for the most part, share my values and morals, so it was easy to maintain high moral standards. The instructors and professors are very open to helping their students, and often will offer study sessions outside of class times. The campus is not too big. There are lots of social activities and clubs offered on campus, and many groups that get together off-campus for activites. Academics are important, but so are extracurricular activities.

The dorms fill up quickly, mostly with freshman students (they are required to live on-campus their first semester). Some of the dorms are like small apartments, with a kitchen, bedrooms, and "living" areas. Some have a cafeteria the students get their meals from. The cafeterias have set hours, and if you are not able to get to the cafeteria while it is open, you just miss the meal (even though you pay ahead for each semester). One nice thing in the dorms is that they offer tutoring and study labs for the residents in the evenings.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
