From What I've Heard – I never lived in the campus housing, but from what I have heard it was excellent and everyone had a great experience. It is very close to campus and the social scene is awesome. Married campus housing is a little farther away but a great, safe area with spacious, grassy areas, large trees and spacious apartment for a reasonable price.

Pleasant If It Isn't Snowing – Late summer and fall are absolutely wonderful. Winter can be very cold if it is windy or snowing, but if it isn't, a medium grade jacket will get you through the day just fine. I will be a senior this year and have not seen any classes canceled due to the weather.

Don't Forget the Honor Code – BYU has a strict Honor Code which all students must sign before enrolling in classes. They are adamant about sticking to the rules and everyone takes it very seriously. If you are a member of the LDS church, the Honor Code won't be too bothersome because it just reiterates the standards that have already been taught. If you are looking to drink, party, hook up, or even wear short skirts, stay away from BYU. You will get caught, and they will kick you out.

Guys & Girls:
Hipster Boys! The boys at BYU often dress like they just walked out of a magazine. They leave their hair long on the top, they sport large frame Ray Bands with seersucker shirts and wear Sperry topsider shoes. They usually look classy and put together, but sometimes it can be a little feminine and stuck up. For the most part, they are clean, friendly, studious, and easy to talk to, but a little too into their music and style.

Competitive, but Possible – BYU offers several scholarships to incoming freshman based on academics, community service, athletics, etc. Scholarship applications need to be submitted well in advance of you first semester at the university. When it comes to awarding scholarships BYU can get pretty competitive since there are several qualified students and only a certain number of scholarships available. If one can't get a scholarship through BYU, BYU does offer information about government aid, FAFSA, and other agencies that offer scholarships to college students

Hands-On Is the Way to Go – BYU students are expected to get the same hands-on that many students don't get until graduate school. The science programs at BYU are constantly working on break through procedures and advances in the field of medicine and engineering. The same goes for the other programs at BYU. State of the art facilities are proof that BYU puts in a lot of effort to make campus a place where students want to come and learn. Don't miss the Harold B. Lee Library which offers fascinating displays and an endless amount of resources to keep a student busy.

Anything You Want Is Just Out the Door – Provo has a great variety of food choices. You can find Chinese, Hispanic, Italian, Thai, and all other sorts of foods. BYU's own creamery is the hot spot when it comes to ice cream. Several restaurants are only 5 min. walking distance from campus like Brick Oven pizza or J dawgs hot-dog store. Get together with a group of friends and head down to the Creamery. The mouth-watering flavors will not leave you disappointed.

There are scholarships for people with high GPA's. In fact, if you have a certain GPA, you are guaranteed a full-scholarship.. However, it is difficult to maintain a scholarship because classes are difficult. Programs offer scholarships are well, such as music performance scholarhips.

There Are a Lot of Students – There are about 20-30 thousand students at BYU. There are not as many parking spaces as there are students. However, not every student has a car, and several live on campus.

Service Opportunities – I have worked with the service center on campus for about 3 years. I love it! There is no better experience than helping others. In classes, some people have a service requirement with the hope that they will continue service when they are done with the requirement. There are over forty programs to serve with in the center.

It Has Cultural Activities, Great Ctivities for Couples and Singles – Brigham Young University has activites for music every week at least once. The performances are superb and the students are very talented. It is always enjoyable to see people perform. The dance program is also superb.

Not a Party School – If you want a school that has keggers every night and bars and clubs in close proximity, BYU is not for you. However, there are fun times to be had. There are some good local venues within walking distance of campus and Salt Lake City is a 40 minute drive away.

This Is a Great Place to Be – BYU is absolutely wonderful. It is a great environment for anyone that doesn't like the negative influences that most universities have. We have a tough honor code and people live by it. It may be hard to get used to if you aren't LDS, but it is still great. This is a great place to learn, not only from the professors, but also from fellow students. So many people have seen different parts of the world and 85% of our student body are fluent in a second language! This is the place to be if you want to pick up another language.

Small Close Knit Major – Since the major is so small you really get to know your professors, which really helps you to be successful in college. I'm a Global Studies emphasis so I take a lot of regional geography classes. The professors of these classes are great because they've spent quite a lot of time in the areas they're teaching about. It is also easy to tailor your course load to you particular interests. For example my focus is on the immigration from North Africa and Middle East to Europe, therefore I took and Africa geography class as well as one for the Middle East and Europe. You don't find cookie cutter students in the Geography department here at BYU.

Sports are huge at our school, especially football and basketball. The stands are packed at each game, and the teams usually don't disappoint. The athletic facilities are top notch and available to anyone.

The wireless network is great, and there are computers all over campus.

Honor Coad – Staying out of trouble at BYU is pretty simple, just follow the honor code that you agreed to when you applied to the university and you will be fine. But if you don't you will get into trouble, and that is pretty much how life goes. No drinking, no drugs, no boys over past midnight, keep the dress code, don't cheat and you will be fine. People are always willing to help you if you have a problem. I don't call that strict, I just call it sensible because you will have to follow rules wherever you go.

Park Plaza Is Awful – I've lived in Park Plaza and do not like it there at all. It's dirty, expensive, and the landlords are the most unhelpful people I've ever met. I would avoid it at all costs.

Guys & Girls:
Real Men – The men here are fantastic they are gentlemen and very good looking for the most part. They are kind, funny, and smart.

Schizophrenia of the Sky – Mistress Utah has some major issues to work out. One day, it'll be 70 and sunny, then you wake up to 3 inches of snow. There is no telling what'll happen from one day to the next, so being prepared is the best option. However, there are very few dangerous storms, the exceptions being heavy snows. But otherwise, the weather is annoying but decent.
College Junior 2012-07-03T18:24:18Z
High Tech and Crowded – The computers are good, and tech support is always quick to respond if there are problems, but they get extremely crowded, particularly in the Hub. The lower levels of the Library are best, and there's also a few little-known labs in the Wilk, Talmage, and other buildings spread across campus.
College Junior 2012-07-03T18:21:21Z
Non-Alcoholic Fun – If you want a bar or drinking scene, this isn't for you. While I'm sure there's plenty of bars out in Provo and Orem, I don't know anything about it. On campus, there's clubs for everything, and someone is always throwing some kind of party or dance. There's plenty of arts performances, and also lots of free stuff. It's good, clean fun all around!
College Junior 2012-07-03T18:06:02Z
Tasty but Crowded – The food is pretty good, and the selection is alright, but if you want a place to sit outside of the Cannon Center, good luck. The Terrace and Cougar Eat are always super crowded, and it gets worse when the weather is bad. The Cannon is alright, usually, but the lines get stopped up during regular mealtimes.
