The Honor Code – BYU is known for having a strict Honor Code which includes absolutely no drugs or alcohol, no sex before marriage, do not go into the bedroom or bathroom of the opposite gender, modest clothes, curfew, and no facial hair in the testing center. There are many other rules that similar to the standards of the LDS church and BYU is very strict in keeping those rules. For the more serious rules you have the potential possibility of getting kicked out of school, but you know the rules when you sign the honor code, so if you don't want to keep those rules then I would suggest not coming to BYU.

Only a Few Good Options – In one of our largest buildings we have a food court which I like, but the problem is that most of the students go to only two of the many options because we don't really like the other options. So if you want your favorite food then you will have to wait in a long line, so I think it would be smart if they replaced the less popular options with ones that students would like to eat at.

Health & Safety:
Low Crime – Besides some bike thefts the crime on BYU is generally pretty low. The campus is fairly well lit, except the hill south of campus. Avoid the river trail late at night and you should be good.

Guys & Girls:
Hit and Miss With the Girls – A large chunk of the girls at BYU are way to focused on their studies and school which can make dating difficult, they have no time for a social life. There's also a lot of Zoey Deschanel wannabes which works out ok because they get together with the BYU hipsters.

If you don't need a car it's better not to bring one... Parking is hard to find. I never got a ticket and when I didn't have a car I did fine.

Health & Safety:
Safer Than Safe – Sometimes I forget when I go out that I even have to use common sense--BYU is incredibly safe, I have never felt in danger. I can walk home from work after closing with little concern. Near no one drinks and the school Honor Code prevents pretty much every danger. I love BYU because it allows me to have fun without fear.

Guys & Girls:
Girls Are Beautiful – Girls have great values and come from all over the world. There are tons of pretty girls at BYU.

Psych That I Like! Psychology has been super great. People interested in psychology and people interested in people and therefore they are awesome. Every teacher I have had is always one of the most interesting people I have met. The subject material, though already awesome, is made all the more awesome by professors who love the material. I love people!

Clean Fun – There are a lot of activities at BYU, and anything sponsored by BYU is required to be very "clean" (no alcohol, modest dress, etc).

Free, but you get what you pay for. No spots free ever! Basically if you have classes at 8 or 9 in the morning, you will find a spot no problem, but good luck finding a spot if your classes start later. Some people just park in faculty parking and eat 1-3 tickets a semester.

Guys & Girls:
Good Girls – Lots of attractive girls, though some are stuck up

Guys & Girls:
Ready to Be Swept Off Your Feet? The guys at BYU are handsome, respectful, and FUN! They take you on the best dates and never overstep boundaries that you have set. You'll definitely be able to find a keeper in this bunch!

I Don't Regret Russian – It is a tough major to figure out what you want to do with your life. Your options are teaching, translating, or possibly something political. I eventually want to teach a secondary class. My program is also helpful in getting you certified to teach and ready for job searching.

BYU has a website that posts all internship opportunities for their students. I haven't had an internship yet, but I plan on interning in Moscow next summer. BYU is very helpful in organizing and informing you of all the opportunities around the world to work and not just close to BYU.

Fast Food Central: Not Catered to College Students – There are plenty of places to eat near campus, but not many of cater to the needs and wants of the students nearby. They never have discounts or incentives. Some have punch cards for when you buy so many meals, you get one free, but other than that, that is all they do to cater to us. But Kneaders for breakfast is a must go! All you can eat french toast. Everything is homemade and it is worth the wait!
College Senior 2012-05-04T18:54:59Z
Extremely Easy – The process of being a Russian major is simple. You go to the college of humanities office and speak to one of the counselors about declaring your major. They ask you if you have a double major you want to pursue or a minor, then they register you as a russian major. The only problem with being a russian major is that you have to study abroad, and you have to have another major or minor. Russian is a small major that does not have a lot of requirements, so the college advises that you have another field of study to supplement your Russian.

Finding people that attend BYU and even WANT to go to a club would be pretty hard, seeing as most of us are Mormon. BYUSA, the dorms, and the off-campus housing people put on a lot of events that are really fun, and we also enjoy the wide variety of outdoor activities having mountains surrounding us provides. There's plenty to do, but I gave the B grade because I'm pretty sure you're talking about clubbing, and that's something we don't do :P
College Junior 2012-05-02T02:36:53Z
Perfect for Freshman – This is exactly what I needed to transition into campus housing. It gets you used to having a roommate, it's really social, food is taken care of with your meal plan, and you're super close to campus!
College Sophomore 2012-04-30T18:35:32Z
White White White – Everyone here is soooo white. I know the idea is that it's super diverse with Mormons from all over....yeah, no. There might be a lot of Mormons from abroad, but still. WHITE.

I Love This – It snows, it's sunny, it's hot, it's cold, it's so interesting! Yeah, heavy snowfall and summer melts might get in the way a little bit with transportation, but other than that, I love the weather and the variety. When it's cold, it's not awful, and when it's hot, it's not unbearable. The desert climate is amazing.

You can find good parties nearly every weekend if you look for it but it's definitely not the focus here. The clubs are really non-existant too.
College Junior 2012-04-29T23:26:01Z
Good Environment to Be Yourself – You're really allowed to learn and do whatever you want to be the most successful you can be. The university is constantly focusing its resources towards creating a better experience for the students. The only issue I've come across is that it's difficult to find guidance on careers that combine several interests groups. For example, I want to be a psychiatrist. Guidance on medical school is plentiful but on a psychological interest is nearly nonexistent.

Professors Work to Teach Us Things That Are Useful in the Field – I am in the Computer Science major at BYU currently and it has been my experience thus far that the professors go out of their way to teach us topics that are relative to our futures out in the work field. Many of the professors have gone through many different jobs throughout their life which helps them provide us with helpful tips for how we can go about not only learning the materials of the class, but how to apply them to get jobs. There are also many internships and jobs on campus that are available to students to help them gain experience so that once they are graduated they have applicable experience to bring with them out into the work force.
College Senior 2012-04-27T21:48:12Z
Many Opportunities Are Available – I came to BYU mainly because of the reputation that it holds of having great professors and great classes that really prepare us for the real world. I have had many great professors who have really cared about their students and how they are doing in their class. This even happens in larger classes where there are 200+ students. They are always very open to working with students outside of class during their office hours. The classes so far have all helped me prepare for my future as well. The topics are relative and worth while.

At BYU people are openly accepted for who they are. It is extremely rare to see any discrimination of persons. On the contrary you see people from all over here on campus and everyone mingles together as if we were all the same. It is the greatest environment.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
