It's About Options – The eating facilities on campus are incredible. Whether you're looking for Taco Bell or Subway or just a burger its available. But when you're at BYU, the best meal option is just to the south. The J-Dawg, one of Provo's best kept secrets. At first you say, "It's just a fancy hot dog." Then you have your first savory bite; the tastes explode on your pallet and you understand the 30-45 minute wait time. The J-Dawg is the perfect blend of spicy hot dog, a potato roll, and the secret J-Dawg sauce. If you're in a rush, the Cougar Eat has you covered, if you have a minute to walk to the J-Dawg, your taste buds will thank you.

There are so many people who attend BYU. Off-campus housing contracts go very quickly, and you sometimes don't get to live exactly where you want. Part of the reason is because UVU students and people just working occupy a lot of BYU housing.

Convenience of Living Close to Campus – I have never lived on campus, but I have always lived very close to campus. It is very convenient because you can walk to class in a very short distance. BYU has a big campus. If you live close to campus, it's usually around 10-15 minute walk to the center of campus. I have a meal plan, so I eat on campus everyday. The food is delicious and fairly cheap.

Health & Safety:
Safety of Campus – BYU campus is a very safe place to be. Extremely low crime rate. Mormons have high standards. But sometimes things do get stolen, etc. We have campus police, but hardly anything bad ever happens.

Finantial Aid – Most of the time, I don't qualify. Because they do everything by parent income...I never get any money because my mom makes too much. They don't take into account, of course, that she is a single mother, working full time (and often over time), with no child support, and 2 kids in college. By working hard throughout school, however, I have been able to earn half-tuition in academic scholarships.

So Far – BYU is a good place. I definitely think very differently from a majority of people here...but overall it is a solid choice with a friendly atmosphere and a great education.

There is no Greek life. So none of these questions really apply.

Feels Good – Provo is an awesome place, everyone is so happy and there is just an amazing spirit about it. There is a lot to do and a lot of places to go, it is in the middle of , like, hundreds of ski resorts

Good Opportunities – There are ample financial aid opportunities for those who seek them. Many are based on academic performance, both before going to the school and in current classes.

Luckily for us, there are no sororities or frat houses. The student body is unified and friendly, no matter who you are or where you are from. There are fun parties and activities, catering to the student's likes and dislikes, all on a university scale.

Diverse Experience – Though the campus has a strong majority of White students, there is a great diversity of backgrounds. Many of the students are from foreign countries or have lived in foreign countries and thus speak a foreign language. The student body is friendly and happy.

There are plenty of activities to keep the students busy. The students rarely have to venture off campus to find what they need. There are plenty of on-campus restaurants, stores, activities, help, library, etc.

The parking on BYU campus isn't horrible but it isn't the best either. You have to get to school a little early to get a good parking spot. If you live close to campus then it is better to walk than use a car. Permits are nice to have and make it easy to find a good parking space. The campus police are strict about parking permits and are not afraid to give tickets.

Decent Housing – The housing around campus is pretty decent. The cheaper apartments are usually older apartments but they're clean and safe to live in and the rent is much better compared to newer apartments.

Health & Safety:
Definitely Safe – I feel safe on campus. There are always so many people around and the campus police are always nearby in case you need them. Students are really nice and are not too rowdy or obnoxious. There are basic honor and safety codes for students to follow to prevent dangerous situations. I feel safe going at my school.

Four Seasons – Utah is fortunate to have all four seasons, with none of them being extreme. In the fall, it gets cold, but not so cold that it is really uncomfortable to walk to school. When the winter term lets out in the spring, it is beautiful weather. Students like to lay out on the lawns and do their homework.

Dorms, Apartments and Church Groups – The dorms and many of the off-campus housing complexes regularly plan parties and get-togethers. Church groups are big at this school, and they are always planning activities for the students as well.

BYU is a beautiful campus and strives to keep things as up-to-date as possible. There are several great places for students to gather, a state-of-the-art library with a large genealogy center. There is also the 20,000 seat Marriott Center where basketball games and many other programs are held. There are always many activities going on at any given time for students who want to really be involved and get to know other students.

Campus Food – I've never really eaten on campus so I'm not sure. Okay variety by the looks of it.

Elementary Ed – I LOVE my major. I think it is the best program at BYU. The teachers are experienced and willing to put in extra time to help you. The books we read are fascinating. The assignments are worthwhile. They assign you to a school your entire time in the program, that way you are more likely to find a teaching position upon graduation--great system!

There are lots of housing options if you act quite and they are all pretty decent. The trick is that you have to make sure its BYU approved housing so you have to be on top of it to get the places you want at a reasonable prive.

Breath of Fresh Air – Being at BYU has been like taking a vacation from the world. I feel completely comfortable here, knowing I won't be persecuted for my religion or beliefs. I don't have to be around drugs, alcohol, foul language, or other things that make me uncomfortable. I know those things are prevalent in the world, and I'll be around them again when I graduate, but it has been so nice to have a break from it for a few years.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
