BYU has top-caliber professors. There is no question that academics at BYU are important, and the administration strives to hire excellent teachers. It is not unusual to come across a professor that is a BYU alumnus. Most professors portray the impression that they have an investment in the success of their students and strive to be available to help students whenever possible. Professors' teaching styles
do vary, and "shopping around" for a professor is not a bad idea.

The biggest complaint, especially in freshman classes,
is the enormous class size. However, there are always teaching assistants available, and the number of TAs usually compensates for the large class size. In other words, there is always help available; sometimes you just have to look harder for it. One way to avoid the large classes as an incoming freshman is to go the "freshman academy" route. This is a program where you take all your generals in smaller classes with the same kids. You also live with these same kids, however, so it can be stifling.

It is the most important building for math and CS majors. CS majors will likely spend long hours in the CS labs especially if they do not have their own computer. It also has the Linux machines for programming in Linux.
