Use of drugs and alcohol is not very visible, especially on campus. All students acepted to BYU are required to sign a code of honor, part of which is to avoid all use of recreational drugs and alcohol, and to use prescription drugs exactly as prescribed by the physician (no abuse of prescription drugs). Students are rarely seen openly breaking the honor code on campus; although sometimes one will here of students who do whatever they want to do when they live off campus. I did not personally have any knowledge of students who used drugs or alcohol during my years at BYU.
