College Prowler Take
No campus is perfect, and parking just may be BYU’s
Achilles’ heel. Parking passes are inexpensive; however, an almost unlimited number are sold, so a pass is no guarantee of a spot. Students with classes after 8 a.m. will have to hope for a miracle if they want to park anywhere near campus. Even if you can get into a Y lot south of campus, you will have to hike up many flights of stairs to get onto campus.
Enter the saving grace of the BYU parking situation: the free bus pass. This allows students to avoid the parking nightmare altogether and ride the bus that drops them off right in the middle of campus. Freshmen are allowed to park near the dorms, and given the great location of the dorms, they have little need to drive.

Basically, if you don’t have a class before 9 a.m., good luck finding parking. There are too many students with cars and definitely not enough parking stalls for everyone. I walk to school most of the time. |

Parking is a problem, which is why the school administration decided to contract with the bus system, so that off-campus students do not need to drive to campus and deal with the problem. |

Parking is a nightmare. The student lots are ever-shrinking, and if you don’t have an 8 a.m. class, you can pretty much forget about getting a parking spot that is even remotely close to your class. |

You can get a parking permit and try to get lucky and find a parking place on campus. Otherwise, you will be walking a couple blocks to campus after finding a place on the street. It’s almost just as easy not to drive to class—all the apartments are close enough to walk. |

Campus is very well laid-out, so all of the buildings are right next to each other. You will only have to park once and then you can walk everywhere. Depending on the lot, they can fill up early, but if you live close to campus, it’s just a quick run up the stairs or the ramp and you’re in the middle of campus. |
