Get it done early! Even if the deadline isn't until March, do it early so you won't rush the process. If you have contact information for any departmental scholarships, go meet them in person or at least email them. They are so willing to help you sort through information that you shouldn't include in the essay, or help you figure out what's missing. They'll help you know your chances of winning the scholarship, and anything else you might want to know. If it's general university scholarships you're trying for, still go ahead and talk to someone. It's so worth it.

The financial aid process is all online and really easy. If you need you can go into the office - which is in a very convenient location - but the steps are laid out online so usually it's not a hassle.

There are too many people looking for scholarship help and not enough scholarships to go around especially with the caliber of students who are eligible to receive scholarships.
