Student Body

The student body consists of many younger, traditional students who are attempting college credits in order to then transfer to a four year college. Many of the students, including myself, are older, non traditional students embarking on a new career. The college also has a high percentage of first generation college education seekers. This makes for a diverse population.

Everything Transferred

BCC accepted all of my transfer credits. As a Bachelor Degree holder, it was important to me to not have to "start over" after 20 + years. I set a goal of becoming a Registered Nurse, and the school has facilitated everything I needed to get accepted into the program. The requirements were clear, and there was support during the application process to ensure I had the best chances of being accepted.

Online Learning

Aside from being an adult learner, I am also hard of hearing so online courses was the perfect answer when first returning to school. I didn't have to worry at all about hearing the instructor or students or wonder if I missed some important point in the lecture. Secondly, if you are an early riser, a night hawk, or in-between online learning is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week!

Online Learning - Elearning

Course are always being added to BCC's eLearning program, and eLearning is the way I returned to college. Sometimes 95% of a program's requirements can be done online. Technical support for both students and faculty is ongoing and includes telephone support, workshops, and one-on-one training with walk-in hours available at the beginning of every semester.

INTRO TO SOCIOLOGY

I had a positive experience with the online course. I find online classes to be very helpful for the adult learners who are trying to balance school and working full-time.

Thoughtful and Caring Instructors

At face value, the College was nothing special. However, if you took the time to get to know the instructors and to get involved on campus, it really was a good experience.

Not My First Choice

Overall, I dont feel like this school is preparing me for my major. The classes dont seem to fit my major very well, the times and days available for classes make it very hard to hold a job and school at the same time. The teachers always cancel class.

"Special" Certificate Program

I have completed a certificate program in Thanatology ; dealing with death, dying and grief. Sounds like a mobid subject of study, but is really very interesting. We have looked at all kinds of grief from loss, death, divorce, pet loss, homicide, suicide, children, and adults. Discussed how to help people deal with the losses. Discussed various cultural aspects of funerals from Jewish, Muslim, Christian and variousother religions including Wiccan.

This is truly a wonderful program, and everyone should take the program. Sooner or later we all experience grief of one sort or another, or know someone who has. How would you hanlde it?

Being Held Back

Sometimes I feel that I'm being held back from learning all that I can from the professors because most students need help and we get stuck talking on one topic for longer than we should be.

Affordability & Flexibility

Being a commuter, it's nice to have the choice of when and where to go to class, as you have campus locations, days and time options. It's also a quality education and even though there's a few bad professors and staff, overall it's a wonderful administration that cares about its students, and it's cheap too.

Bristol Community College

Bristol Community college is different from other colleges that are four year schools. You only go to school for two years at BCC or as long as it takes you. BCC has tons to offer you the second walk in. If you need help finding a job they can help you. If you need help with your school work you can get help. If your sick, you can see a doctor there. BCC has a big campus and a pond. Its very relaxing when you go for a walk around that pond. The professors are wicked nice and want to help you learn in any way you can and give you a chance. They even have a gym at the school which is free to students and workers.
