There is very little 'good' I can say about my academic experience here. Some teachers are not qualified to teach and do not show friendly interest or concern about their student's progress. There is a defensive attitude when questions are asked and the learning environment in some classes is hostile.

I do not take online courses at Brown College- attended the physical classes.

the general campus aesthetics meets average requirements but there is no interaction between students and some teachers.

Not a friendly or helpful school to attend. Once you sign up you are on your own.

The Computer network is not the problem - lack of helpful instruction and waste of tuition funds is the main problem.

Pretty Great – We as students have a great computer lab. we can research and use it freely. Printing as much as we would like because we pay a lab fee every quarter. Wireless is also available so using your laptop is easy and fast.

Not Much but We're Not Complaining – We don't have a lot of resources on campus but we do have great access to computers, teacher information, everything court reporting students need. I do wish we had a bigger eating area for the students and better parking but i cant complain.

Brown College is a small school, made up of mostly females. There are two sides to the school: the voice side and the steno side. These are two different ways to capture words and turn them into transcripts and official records.

Career Center Very Helpful – Before completing the degree you have internship to complete before you can graduate the school. With the internship you are working in the field of study. They will also help you find the right agency at the end of completing the school.

Lots of Effort – Our career Services Coordinator is pretty awesome. She works with students, helping them network with working court reporters. She also helps you find an agency to work for so you can start working as soon as you graduate. She is very helpful and caring.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
Could Be Better – The value of education is not worth the tuition I pay. Tuition should either be lower or the school should accept more grants and scholarships which would make it much easier on students. I work full-time and it's difficult. I don't receive much aid and because of that, I don't receive any refund checks and I owe my school for tuition. I only make maybe $230 dollars a week and I have rent, bills, utilities, and food to pay for. Its very difficult. I, as well as many other students, fill out applications for grants and scholarships a lot but my school doesn't accept a lot of them so that adds more strain to my financial situation.

Strong-Minded Women – At Brown College of Court Reporting, there are not that many students considering the fact that court reporting, both voice and stenography, is pretty difficult. Lucky for us, we have a couple of great teachers who push, push, and push us more and more towards our dreams. School starts at 8am. sharp and ends at 2:30pm Monday through Thursday. Most of the students do not work at all but I do; full time. The school's student body is made up of mostly women, with maybe two or three gentlemen.

Overall Good Experience – I attend online. The staff is great, but the online platform has been rocky. Flexibility is there as far as classes.

Typical to Me – My school is rather average in looks although we have had some nice improvements the past couple years. The academic programs don't stand out although they have some very nice overseas opportunities.

It's a Good Start – When I chose this school, I admit it wasn't for the academic program as I was still deciding on my major. But the campus experience was fantastic. My only regret is that freedom was too sweet and I think attendance should be more enforced. However the food and the closeness of everything you needed was a blessing.

Play Hard, Work Hard! Sometimes it's hard to decide what the majority of students focus on. Parties or studies? Finding your balance may be the hardest part. However, once you've found your niche you can definitely depend on others to support you in discerning the latest gossip or studying for midterms.

The teachers are very caring, and attentive. The classroom settings are small ,therefore that allows more hands on time with the teachers. When I first startes school I was terrified, considering that I had been out of schoo. 30 plus years. The teachers are all approachable.I'm looking forward to my future

Brown College is a fraud. Not one teacher on staff is certified in voice writing, yet they teach it. The admissions staff guarantees that college credits will be accepted, but then the administration refuses to grant credit. The curriculum is altered on an ongoing basis to extend the requirements needed to graduate. Some of the teachers are illiterate. The staff overall is hostile and defensive when answering students' questions.

Court Reporting – Brown College of Court Reporting is an experience that I am so glad I have chosen. All the Staff and Students make you feel at home and welcome. The Teachers are very informative about what we have to do and how we can reach our goal to becoming a Court Reporter. I have pick the best school for this field.

Academic Experience – Brown gives all students everything they will need to pass National Boards to become a Court Reporter (and that's encompasses a lot more than just working in a court room)

Tuition & Financial Aid:
The Financial Aid is very important to me. Without it I could not attend. I thought I had been approved & everything was locked in, however when I went in to out a deposit on the machine I need for class I was informed that the Aid was still not 100% approved. With only a 2 weeks bfore classes begin it caused me a lot of anxiety. However, the FA office assured me it was only a small set back and should be complete in a few days. I just wished they'd not seemed so sure of my approval and let me know there was still a chance that I would have to pay out of pocket to attend. Otherwise they are very helpful and attentive to my needs.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
