Attention Moms

School targets single moms in hopes for a flexible, convenient education. They promise a month to month program where you can focus on one subject a month. This sounds good however, they do not tell you how fast paced and concentrated it is. It is next to impossible to complete the program without failing or driving yourself crazy. I was in the Vet tech program and a friend of mine in the nursing program. Admission advisors give you a runaround and are not honest with you. Schedules change every month though you are told that you will have a set schedule. If you are a mom, this will be a challenge when you have children in school too. I studied every day for at least two hours a day and still only earned a C. Before I came to this school I have maintained a 4.0 GPA. I would not ever recomend this school to anyone, especially parents or young children. I wouldn't even recomend it to someone with a job. I have even spoken to teachers there who understand that it is not a good learning environment and hard to retain information crammed into a month.

Don't Know

Well I haven't study online curses. But from my perspective I'll prefer a traditional classroom experience, because u can learn more in a class, than doing it at your house.

Great School, Great Choise

My experience at Brown Mackie College-Albuquerque is being so great. When I find out that there was a Lab for Veterinary Technician, I wanted to go to this school. Also what I love about it is that, the training is going to be Hands-on. This 2 reason where, the ones that make me go to this school, and motivate me. I can't wait for next year to start Veterinary Technician Program.

Not Enough Externship Sites

Prospective graduates have completed their classwork and once it's time to go out on your externship, the school doesn't have a site to send you to. They've even lost their accredidation for the Licensed Practical Nursing program since I've been a student there. The school has a bad reputation among some employers.

Professors Don't Care

I wish the school had a structured process for ensuring student success. The labs are graded on pass/fail without any clear cut or concise instructions on what's expected and required to pass on to the next class. Professor from the 2nd month teaches you a completely different method than professor from the 1st month. Procedures are changed every month. What's acceptable this month is unacceptable next month. Very confusing!!!

Not "Student Friendly"

When initially attending this school it seemed perfect - one class per month, attending class only 3 days per week, etc. However, when the time approaches for you to begin your MD or core courses, everything changes! Your grade can be an A and in one class day you can fail the entire course. The lab final is a pass/fail option. You cannot retake it. You aren't allowed to take notes in the lab during lab days. It's impossible to study for this vital test. It does not matter how well you've grasped the concept prior to the lab final. If you make more than 3 simple mistakes (even if you catch your mistake and correct it without the instructors help), you FAIL!!! They have no consideration or empathy. I don't want to be felt sorry for, but simply treated like a human being, whom may feel nervous, that is allowed to make mistakes and fix them. Then after the devastation of thinking you've aced a class that you actually have failed, the school requires the student to sit out of class for 3 months, until that specific class is offered again. How discouraging!! This school is not concerned with the success of the student... they're more focused on the success of the schools' finances!

Mish Mosh

This school has a sports program and the athletes get whatever they want. Diverse group of students and because of the major age gaps in students, this creates many issues for the teachers.

Look for All the Help You Can Get

The financail aid process at my school was very easy. They have several financial aid advisors. I made an appointment with financial aid and everything was complete in about 30-40 minutes. My financial aid advisor helped me every step of the way. I have also been looking and applying on line for scholarships because the more help I can get, the less money I have to pay back after I graduate.

Financial Aid and Tuition

I was walked through everything the very first day that I visited the campus. The staff is very informative and always willing to assist you in any way. I received around $15,000 between federal grants, subsidized and unsubsidized loans. They held my hand through everything! I feel that the amount of money is well spent on my degree in Veterinary Technology. It is MUCH cheaper than most colleges and the personal level of involvement makes it worth every penny.

Great school, helpful staff

This is my fourth month at Brown Mackie, So far I love it, the small classes are wonderful and the three days a week works very well with my busy work schedule, once I graduate I will miss Brown Mackie College. It's a wonderful school overall.

The Curriculim Is Set.

The curriclulum is rather set in stone. No flexibility, at least once you are in the core classes.

A Little Pricey and Slow

The tuiton is a bit high, but they do provide the best lab and equipment possible. The financial aid office is slow.

the only thing i can say bad about this school. is some people only come to class 2 or 3 times a month and still pass

Fexible School Schedule

The schedule is very flexible and can switch your schedule anytime you need.

Guidance and Assistance Are There

Guidance and assistance are there for you. From inception the school officials do groom you for prospective jobs they guide you and open many doors but you have to apply yourself. It is awesome and I am impressed

Curriculum, Workload,Special Study Options, Professors, Are Great

The curriculum is diverse and applicable to the real world. The professors and special study options are outstanding you are not just a number. You must do your part by keeping up with the workload, the program is accelerated and you must be disiplined to do what is required.

Library, Student Advisors

it is small, like a satelite school, but what is offered and assistance given is wonderfully packed in this school, I have attend another school and the resources and assistance is greater at this school then at the university I attended. I am beyond a number and too many others to help. It is good

Great Environment

I walked in expecting to just talk to someone about the college and explore my options. I walked out hours later as a college student after 11 years. I am very happy I found a college that could accommodate my needs as far as job and life because they have a monthly schedule. Since I have been out of college for many years, I was afraid it would be harder. But the teachers and advisors made it very comforting for me and are always there for me.

Student Body

This school is more about education than socializing. They do offer some sports. Students of all academic ranges and ethnic diversities attend.

Approachable and Friendly

The Professors and other staff of Brown Mackie are very approachable and friendly. The make it known that they are there to help you and succeed in your academic career. I am very glad I made the choice to advance my career at Brown Mackie. I had previously attended another college where the staff and professors weren't half as attentive or friendly.

Computer Friendly

Just received a lot of new computers and we are welcome to access them anytime during open hours.

Parking Madness

Definitely need more parking and maybe an entirely new campus! Ours is growing faster than there is room available for students.

I Don't Know Because I Haven't Been There Yet.

They only help you out after you graduate. But I heard from someone that they don't help that much finding you a job.
