College Prowler Take
Brown’s facilities reflect Brown student’s needs—the average Brown student would tell you they spend much more time in the library than at the gym. Therefore, it makes sense that the libraries and computer centers are constantly renovated and updated, while other facilities may receive less attention. That being said, Brown is not completely lacking any facilities, but it is easy to see which interests are given priority. Compared to other Ivies, Brown’s facilities are modest and reflect a certain degree of frugality. A quick look at the campus will not necessarily showcase the hidden, but first-rate, costume shop, wood and metal working studio, or the special libraries. Most students have everything they need, though it may take them a little time to find it.

The gym is old and not so nice. Some of the athletic fields are really far away. The satellite facilities are a little nicer, though, but they are small. The libraries are fantastic, and the student center has been redone recently. Basically, the athletic facilities are great. The sports, not so much.

There is one main gym, as well as several smaller satellite gyms spread out across campus. The libraries are adequate places to study, although you don't really need to go all the way to a library to study—there are nice, quiet lounges in most dorms. We don't really have a student center, unfortunately, but there's not that much need for one considering all the convenient places to study, eat, and hang out.

The athletic facilities aren’t the greatest or the newest, but they get the job done. The computer labs are pretty good. |

Most things are fairly centralized, and the campus is fairly compact. The only thing is that the athletic center can be a little bit of a walk depending on where you are living. Nothing is more than ten minutes away, though. |
