The large majority of Bryant students lives on campus. Commuters are mostly students who live in Rhode Island already and decided to commute rather than pay for on-campus housing. The number of students who come from other states/countries and live off campus is very small, largely due to the difficulty of finding off-campus housing that isn't too far from campus or too expensive. In addition, most students really enjoy living on campus due to the sense of community it provides. For those out-of-state/country students who do decide to live off campus, finding housing can be challenging. Being close to Providence can be pricey, often costing more than Bryant housing (and adding to commuting times). Yet there is little availability of off-campus housing in the surrounding area. Most students go about the housing search by checking online listings, visiting apartments in the areas they are considering, or checking Craigslist. The Office of Residence Life will also provide students with information to help any students who are looking at living off campus. Due to the location of Bryant, partying off campus is pretty much unheard of. Everyone likes to stay close and not worry about finding a designated driver, or a taxi service. The main exception to this is that some students party at friends' houses or apartments in Providence after clubs close at 1 or 2 a.m., then stay there overnight or take a cab back to campus.
