Not. Good. It is actually painful to attend Bryn Mawr sports events, not only are they not well attended but the teams NEVER win. The athletic center however is GORGEOUS.

Not as Impressed as I Would Have Liked – While Bryn Mawr is exceptionally diverse in regards to ethnic and racial diversity, BMC fails to maintain real socioeconomic diversity which is upsetting. It seems as if diversity here is only skin deep.

Love My School – I came to Bryn Mawr for the community and the academic excellence. My classroom experience has been great, my professors are obviously in love with their classes and their research. While not every class I've had has been absolutely amazing, not every subject or class works for every student. The workload is intense but definitely worth it.

In general, transportation is okay. The blus bus to haverford is great, but after regular class hours, it gets a little tricky to work around the blus bus schedule. The R5 train is easy and a really short walk with is awesome. However, it can be a little inconsistent (it has a tendency to be late all the time) and is expensive. Even though thats true, I still use it all the time and I am really grateful that I have it. Plus, it runs to and from the airport, and the train fare is a lot cheeper there than a taxi is.

For such a small campus, we have great facilities. The libraries are great, we have tons of books and the hours are decent. Bryn Mawr also has an amazing new gym. It is BEAUTIFUL and has tons of great equipment, as well as a lot of fun classes to sign up for. However, since it's a small campus, it is just going to lack what a big university can offer. For instance, I've found there isn't many places to study on campus beside the library and your own room. Sometimes I wish there was a cozy place I could go besides the noisy campus center and the library just to hang out and do some reading.

Pretty much if you don't get to the point of having to go to the hospital you won't get in trouble.

Great but Limited – The area around Bryn Mawr is a great little college town but there isn't a ton of options for food. There are a couple of ones that people go to many times a month like sushi land or Tiffin but the food on campus is great and most of the times when students go out to dinner they simply go into Philly.

Everything You Need – The facilities at Bryn Mawr are great. For a women's college the gym is oriented for women who want to go there and stay in shape and its a great place to work out. It's really beautiful and it was redone this last year. The campus center is in a great location and has the coffee shop, bookstore, mailboxes and plenty of space to hang out. Bryn Mawr has everything you need and the campus is the most beautiful I've ever seen.

Winter Season Is COLD – The spring and summer are wonderful, and Bryn Mawr looks incredible during the season changes- but in summer the dorms don't have AC and it gets HOT (luckily the summer season doesn't last too long) and in the winter, though the heaters in the dorms work wonderfully, it gets really, really cold outside, typically with lots of ice and snow that make walking to class really miserable. Flu season at Bryn Mawr can be really awful.

In addition to the bryn mawr shuttle, there is Bryn Mawr security, who will also pick you up from wherever you are to get you back to your dorm. Going outside of campus, there are the Blue Buses- buses that take you to and from Swarthmore and Haverford colleges at intervals throughout the day and late night, every day of the week. To get farther than that, bryn mawr has it's own train station that goes to every city nearby and into downtown Philly, and is relatively cheap.

Health & Safety:
Think: Completely Secure! Around the Bryn Mawr area are a few other notable colleges, and everytime something unsafe happened to one of their students, we would all be notified via email, text, flyers to be wary when going there. Bryn Mawr's campus, however, was always safe. It didn't matter if I was walking across campus at 2 am, I always felt completely safe. Bryn Mawr also has a free shuttle system you can call any time to take to your dorm.

Bryn Mawr is amazing at providing scholarships for over half of the cost of attending Bryn Mawr (approx. 53, 000). Annual giving from alumni allows students to attend Bryn Mawr at a minimal cost. Education is unbelievably important and Bryn Mawr gives it students the monetary resources they need to attain their goals. Even at Bryn Mawr if you ever find it a problem to pay the minimum amount you are paying they offer solutions to your financial problems.

The public safety officers are very nice, and make sure that we are safe, wherever we are. The school puts a huge amount of trust in our actions. They know that we are responsible young women and it shows when we are not overshadowed by stringent drinking rules, and other rules. Visitation policies are not strictly enforced because most students follow the rules anyway. The Honor Code adds onto the part of Bryn Mawr community that makes it such a great place to be.

Bryn Mawr Athletics are great! Very well equipped field contributes to the enjoyment of games, as well as other school's visiting our field to play.

Know What You're Getting Into – Most night-time events at Bryn Mawr involve dry parties, movie nights, roller rinks or art parties. The Bryn Mawr Concert Series brings underground groups to campus every few weeks, and those parties are pretty large but are mostly attended by Mawrters. The organization is working to garner outside interest.
I spend Friday and Saturday nights at Haverford with the friends I've made there. Bryn Mawr students who are into hard parties generally head over to Villanova or into Philly.
There are a bunch of dive bars in town that are fun if your expectations are low. If you're into dancing with your girlfriends by the jukebox, or into hosting your own party in the dorm, Bryn Mawr is a fine place for that kind of thing.

Guys & Girls:
Beautiful, Passionate, Quirky – Bryn Mawr women come from all around the world and it is difficult to categorize them beyond their intelligence and slight awkwardness. Bryn Mawr girls laugh loudly, study hard and are often excited, politically subversive, and eager to experiment and explore. Best women in the world if you're serious.

Main Line Dining – There are a bunch of small, but delicious restaurants around the town, including Silk Cuisine (Thai), Golden China (Chinese), Tiffin (Indian), Sushi Land (Japanese), Peace a Pizza (PIZZA!), and lots more. My favorite place to order from is Campus Corner, which is open late! They have a pretty large menu with foods like wraps, sandwiches, pizza, and snacks. It's really great for any late night urges to eat hot food!

I Love the Libraries! We have three libraries for students to use. The resources in our system and the people there to help are both equally helpful. They try to stay up-to-date with technology, and have recently replaced a lot of the computers. There are lots of couches and places to get comfortable while setting, but also hundreds of private study carrels. My favorite library is Carpenter because of its architecture, and huge windows.

Probably Wouldn't Come Back – Let's be honest: the social atmosphere is not everyone's cup of tea. Half of the campus struggles with mental health issues. If you are into chicks, you will probably have a rich social life; the opposite is true if you are into guys. But the real deal breaker for me are academics. Everyone feels entitled to As, yet few students actually buckle down and do their work. Instead, they whine whine whine until the professors give in. The professors are awesome though. If you are willing to work, they will make your success a priority!

Basically Nonexistent – Bryn Mawr is an upscale residential neighborhood, not a college town. There are a few restaurants within 2 miles of campus for an occasional dinner off campus, but you will want to have most of your meals on campus.

Bryn Mawr just had their gym and theatre completely renovated and they're amazing. The whole campus is beautiful.

Health & Safety:
Very Very Safe – Public safety is very good about education the students about the dangers of Philadelphia but when it comes to on campus safety I have never felt threatened.

The department is very qualified and knowledgeable about their various fields of study. In addition, you can major at Haverford if you want to focus on a different aspect of biology.

Almost Non-Existent – We don't really have a night life. Most girls here go to Haverford and Swarthmore to meet guys and go drinking. We have some parties here, but they are few and far between.

Buildings Like Castles – The buildings on campus are in the traditional ivy league school stone castle structure. The rooms in each dorm vary in size and have their own unique charms. We do not live in rooms like those classic cinder-block ones of larger universities.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
