Every Dorm Is Unique – There are no specifically freshman or upperclassman dorms. Every dorm has a mix of every class which ends up fostering a very tight community campus wide. Since over 95% of the student body lives on campus everyone has to mingle regardless of class year.
Apart from this though, each dorm attracts different types of people due to their own strengths and weaknesses. For example, Brecon has it's own parking lot, some of the nicest facilities and the largest rooms on campus, but it is out of the way and a good walk from food, classes, transportation, and social centers. Pembroke and Rockefeller on the other hand are at the very center of campus, with easy access to everything, which lends itself to more parties and socialization, but the rooms are smaller, with more multiple occupancy, and are prone to more wear and tear, with drafts in the winter and older facilities.
There are about 11 different dorms on campus and all have their own ups and downs, but the housing process (although a little chaotic) almost always has students end up in a dorm they are comfortable in.
