Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The drug scene on campus is very low key. There is hardly any visible drug use, though the scent of weed occasionally wafts through the dorm halls. Radnor (formerly the only dorm that permitted smoking, but is now smoke-free) and Brecon are considered the drug dorms. There is no pressure to do drugs, and most students stay away from it. Many students drink regularly, but that is the extent of widespread “substance” use at Bryn Mawr. Everyone has their vices, such as daily afternoon naps and coffee addictions, but much more common than heavy drug use.

Students who do more than smoke an occasional joint may not last long at Bryn Mawr. It is not difficult to obtain pot on campus, but you might be searching awhile to find harder drugs. Most students are more concerned about getting their work done than getting high all the time, so caffeine pills are more prevalent than acid. The Hall Advisor Program makes it difficult for any serious drug abuse to go unnoticed, though it is not the role of the hall advisor to turn in students. In the case of a serious problem, your HA may urge you to visit the Health Center for one of their drug services. Otherwise, as is more likely the case, they will ask you to stop smoking up in the dorm because the smell is bothering other residents of the hall.

Less Drugs, More Books

I rarely see anyone doing any drugs. If anything, people drink or smoke on campus. The party scene is not big here but there will be occasional get-togethers and events such as, Halloween, Pem East vs. West and St. Patrick's Day where a lot of people drink.

Drink Responsibly

At Bryn Mawr, as long as you drink responsibly and take care of yourself and each other, the administration doesn't really care what you do. The emphasis is on staying safe and to not cause any problems. There is a drug scene on campus but it's mostly limited to pot and it's not as popular as drinking.

Drugs?

I never know if a good score on here means yay a lot of drugs or yay no drugs. Either way, I'd assume Bryn Mawr is in the middle of the pack. Drugs don't dominate the scene, but I'm sure you could find what you were looking for.
