“Ain’t no party like a Bryn Mawr party cause a Bryn Mawr party don’t stop.” Well, not exactly. Typically parties refer to gatherings of friends, and though they tend to dry up before 2 a.m., they are considered a pretty good time. Parties at Perry House, where members of Sisterhood can choose to live, are held several times during the year and attract many guys from off campus. Students are quick to note that huge campus-wide parties are few, although when students can pull them off, such as at Radnor parties or Rhoads Halloween, they are talked about for weeks.
Less popular are the heavily accessorized Social Committee parties—dry parties financed by the dean’s office. When our campus is quiet on a Friday night, students looking for a party scene can take the Blue Bus and Swat Vans to Haverford and Swarthmore, and if you have friends at Penn or Villanova, you have two other options for the kind of parties rarely found at Bryn Mawr. In the past, SGA has had student van rental programs to enable small groups of students to get to Philly. This is helpful as bars on the Main Line are scattered and sparse. Everyone drinks mainly at the Grog, Brownie’s, or the Erin Pub, which is popular for its Ladies’ Night on Tuesdays.
