Given the choice of cuisine, ambiance, and prices, Bryn Mawr seems ideally located for someone who takes pleasure in eating out, and most Mawrters do. Everyone has their favorites, but since few students can afford to dine at restaurants like Lourdas regularly, more casual places like Piece of Pizza is more popular. Ethnic restaurants also attract many students who tire of the American and Italian food served regularly in the dining halls, making Silk Cuisine, Khajuraho, and Mikado top choices. Restaurants along the Main Line are fairly accessible by train. Going to Philly expands your choices immensely. Each neighborhood offers its own world of restaurants, but students talk about and return to Penang in Chinatown and Marrakesh on Leithgow Street.
If you go out to eat, say, three times each month, there are just enough restaurants on the Main Line to keep things adventuresome for about a year. After that, you will most certainly have decided your favorites, and even though they are sure to be wonderful restaurants, you might get tired of them after a while. Philly adds spice to the options, but only if you take the time to go, and many students do not because of the time and expense it requires. The dining halls do get tiresome, but they are not bad enough to chase students off campus regularly. When students go into town in search of food, they usually find what they are craving.
