Parking is limited, and it's one of the few things that
Public Safety regulates. You must have a permit to
park conveniently, and to get a permit, you must convince Public Safety that you need a car. Parking without a
permit may involve a long walk, a hefty fine, or, if done cleverly, a feeling of great satisfaction. Students either believe that the advantage of having a car diminishes the hassle and fuss about how problematic the parking situation is. Either way, parking is a hassle, but it will only be your hassle if you think you absolutely cannot live without a car at Bryn Mawr.

Freshmen are not given permits, so parking will not be
an immediate concern. If you think you might need a car after freshman year, say, for an important internship far from campus or for necessary family obligations, do not despair, because if you discuss your situation with Public Safety, they are likely to give you a permit. If your reason is not compelling to Public Safety, you will have to decide if you are willing to hike to and from your car, risk being booted, or move it so it does not get towed after a snow storm.
