College Prowler Take
There are many athletes on Bucknell’s campus, as well as successful sports teams. However, since the school is small, there’s not a significant amount of team spirit amongst fans. There are a few sports events each year that many Bucknellians make it out to watch, like Homecoming (football) and Midnight Madness (basketball). Other than that, though, attendance at sports events is low. Bucknell has many new and recently renovated athletic facilities. In general, the Bucknell campus is very athletic, with most students participating in some kind of physical activity, whether it’s a varsity sport, an IM sport, or the gym. IM sports are fairly popular, and there is a wide array of them available. The fraternities often participate in IM sports and compete against each other, which is fun to watch if you know the people playing. Bucknell has a great community, so it seems strange that there isn’t a great deal of school spirit for athletics. Certainly, if students want to watch games, they can, but it’s not as much fun when you’re a fan amongst only a handful of other people.

A lot of students are involved in sports and the athletic facilities are very nice. However, there's not a lot of support from unathletic students.

The varsity sports on campus...
The varsity sports on campus aren't fantastic, but the time commitment is very demanding since it's a Division I school. There are a few sports, such as lacrosse, that are very good and get a pretty good turnout. Intramural and club sports have a very big pull since it seems that a lot of the kids at Bucknell were good athletes in their respective sports in high school but just don't have the time or skill to compete on the college level.

Varsity sports are intense, so only get involved if you plan on giving up your social life to the team. That's not to say you won't have one, though.
Intramural sports are huge and a lot of fun! It's just you and your friends going out and playing sports that are fun and only as competitive as you make it.

Bucknell students take athletics...
Bucknell students take athletics very seriously. Wherever you go, you will most likely run into some kind of athlete, whether it be a member of the football, water polo, or softball team. The basketball games are huge here—everyone shows up in orange and blue to cheer on our Bison! Students who don't play a varsity sport typically get involved with intramurals or pick-up games when they come around. Our gym is absolutely amazing! You will most definitely notice the number of people who are in shape on the campus because of the emphasis on keeping in shape.

Bucknell definitely has a lot of athletes. I find varsity sports to be a huge part of my life, as well as a social network. Intramural sports are big, as well. Almost everyone on this campus is physically fit and involved in at least one sport.

Gyms and Facilities
- Bucknell Climbing Wall - This wall was built by the Bucknell Outing Club and is located in the Gerhard Field House. There is over 1,200 feet of indoor climbing!
- Gerhard Field House - This is connected to the new gym and is where the school’s cardio and weight-lifting equipment use to be before the opening of Krebs Fitness Center. Currently, the Field House is used more for sports teams, such as track (there’s an indoor track), tennis, crew, and baseball. On the second level, there is an aerobics room. Each semester, there are aerobics classes offered, from spinning to pilates to kickboxing. Generally, the instructors are students, so it’s a really relaxed atmosphere and a great way to add some variety to your workouts.
- Krebs Family Fitness Center - This is the main gym that is open to all students, and it is absolutely gorgeous! There are two floors of cardio and weight-lifting equipment that is new and well-kept. It can get crowded, especially during the late afternoon, but usually there are plenty of cardio and weight lifting machines available. This facility is probably one of Bucknell’s finest!
