Favorite Things To Do
The CAP (Campus Activities and Programs) center works really hard to get lots of different bands and singers to campus. Bucknell has seen some pretty impressive performers from Dave Matthews to Ludacris to O.A.R. Each semester, the Bucknell Concert Committee puts on a concert with a mainstream performer. However, nearly every weekend there are lesser-known bands and singers performing at Uptown and in 7th Street Café, and these concerts are free, which is always a plus. Also, many of the fraternities bring bands in to play. If there’s not someone you want to see performing, students enjoy the five-minute walk to the Campus Theatre (on Market Street) to catch a movie. Often times, there are independent and foreign films, as well as mainstream Hollywood films. The CAP center also shows movies on campus once or twice a week. Bucknell students also enjoy working out at the gym, which was redone in 2003 and is in pristine condition. Every day there are special classes offered such as Pilates or kickboxing. Of course, students can also use the equipment, swim in the Olympic-sized pool, or play a game of tennis on the courts. T The 7th Street Café is a fun place to hang out and chat with your friends. The atmosphere is really cozy, and there are a lot of yummy coffee and non-coffee drinks to chose from, as well as food! When the weather is nice, students can be found littered all around Bucknell’s beautiful campus. There are many places to sit and do work, read, or just hang out.
During the day, you can eat, shop (there are always outside vendors on campus in the LC selling clothes, jewelry, purses, etc.), use your creative energy at the craft center, relax in the sauna, work out, go for a swim, play tennis, or hit up the driving range. At night, you can check out the many on- and off-campus parties, hang out at 7th Street Café, listen to one of the many speakers that Bucknell brings to campus, attend one of the activity nights at the Caf, check out a band playing at Uptown (the on-campus club), see a movie in Vaughan Literature Auditorium or the LC Forum, or check out a visiting comedian in the Bison.
