College Prowler Take
It’s no secret—Bucknell has an unnatural amount of “really, really, ridiculously good-looking” people. (There was actually a Bucknell T-shirt made with that line on the back!) Most students are very conscious about health and fashion and care about their physical appearance, but they also seem to have a certain amount of natural hotness that can’t come from the gym or make-up or the right clothes. Even if every girl or guy at Bucknell is not gorgeous, many still are able to project the idea that they are. The downside to having a good-looking student body is that some students, specifically girls, are overly confident in the fact that they are attractive, which makes them appear stuck-up. Also, the fact that Bucknellians are attractive and care about their appearance can have a negative impact on students, such as girls who frequently feel the need to go tanning and/or engage in unhealthy dieting. As with many college campuses around the country, the issue of eating disorders is prevalent. There was a rumor that Playboy once ranked Bucknell third on a list of college campuses with the hottest girls, but Bucknell women have much more going for them than that. Girls and guys at Bucknell worked hard to get where they are and continue to work hard to stay where they are. Even though a guy may sometimes act like a frat guy from Animal House or a girl may display behavior reminiscent of Girls Gone Wild, everybody is an intellectual with ambitions and passions outside of the party scene. Come Monday morning, the guy you saw funneling three beers before he smashed the empty cans flat against his forehead raises his hand in politics class to share his views. The typical Bucknellian truly does lead a balanced life between the academic and the social. And if they don’t, they eventually experience the consequences.

FactsBirth Control Available?
Yes - Female students can make an appointment with the nurse practitioner at Health Services and get birth control for $15 per month. They can pay for this with cash or their Bucknell Student ID card. Condoms are available for free through the nurse practitioner.
Social Scene
Since the Greek scene is pretty big at Bucknell, there are always many parties going on. Usually every weekend, one of the frats will have a registered party, which is a dance party held at the fraternity house. Technically, in order to get in, you have to be on the register, which is a guest list, but usually you can get in without being on the list, unless you’re a freshman guy. The downtown area, where upperclassmen have houses off campus, is notorious for mixers and keg parties. Often times, a few brothers from the same fraternity will all live together in houses along Saint Catherine’s, 6th Street, and 7th Street. These houses are where lots of the parties take place. Occasionally, there will be parties at girls’ houses but are often just for a certain sorority. The parties are at usually guys’ houses, most likely because guys don’t seem to care as much about destruction caused by drunken college students.
Hookups or Relationships?
The typical Bucknell girl participates in hookups, but most likely only because she hopes that eventually it might lead to a relationship. The typical Bucknell male, on the other hand, seems to just want to hook up and have the no-strings attached type relationship, giving them the freedom to hook up with whoever, whenever. Occasionally, one of these hookups will lead to a relationship, but because students pretty much stay on or right around campus on the weekends, there really is very little dating. In fact, many students consider continuously hooking up as the dating period, and somehow, the guy and girl eventually morph into a couple.
Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls
There are various places to meet guys or girls at Bucknell, depending on what you’re looking for. It is common to meet someone at a party, but it can be hard to form a quality relationship. Alcohol is generally involved in the situation, therefore, it is not always clear if when you both sober up the next day you will want to continue to see each other. Most people just end up meeting and getting to know each other because they have mutual friends.
Dress Code
Bucknell is an extremely preppy campus. Both girls and guys sport polo shirts. (Some even flip the collars up to further prepify their look!) Many students dress pretty casually, though, for classes. Jeans are a staple for girls and guys, although many girls are picky about only wearing designer jeans. Flip-flops are a definite necessity. They are easy to put on when rushing off to class, plus, they put the finishing touch on that casual, preppy look that many Bucknellians strive for. It's not uncommon to see students dressed down in sweats and gym clothes and girls with no makeup. Comfort is key for many students at Bucknell, where the winters are cold, and walking across campus requires going up and down steep hills. While Bucknell girls, for the most part, dress down in their jeans and polos for class, at night the attire is completely different. Girls often times, sport tube tops and halter tops paired with tight-fitting jeans or a miniskirt. Guys, meanwhile, don't look any different from daytime.
