Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

There are a couple restaurants around Lewisburg that students love. OIPS and the Bull Run Inn are cheap and relatively close to campus. Students will eat at these types of restaurants for a quick meal, but unlike other campuses, it’s not common for students to eat off campus frequently. Since freshmen aren’t allowed to have cars, they really can only eat in the downtown area because it is within walking distance. Students choose to eat off campus mostly on the weekends when they have the time to walk downtown or drive to the surrounding area for a sit-down dinner. Many students go to BJ’s, Marcos Tapas, or Applebee's to celebrate birthdays or if they are looking for a nicer atmosphere. Elizabeth’s is the most upscale of all of all the restaurants, and students really only go there when their parents are in town.

The Lewisburg area has a lot of really great restaurants for a small town. Elizabeth’s and Brasserie Louis are nicer and serve high-quality entrees. The other restaurants are good for the average college student’s tastes and budget. Marcos Tapas is very popular among students because it is BYOB. Many students also frequently walk down to the Freez, which serves generous portions of ice cream and always draws long line because the ice cream is delicious. Going out for a meal at Bucknell, though, is a big deal. It’s not part of the average Bucknellian’s daily schedule since the restaurants are all at least a 10-minute walk from campus. It would be nice if there were some outside venders serving food at Bucknell. A Subway or Dunkin’ Donuts on campus would see a lot of student business. Currently, though, only the Bucknell Dining Services prepares all of the food on campus.

Good Local Fare, but Not a Ton of Variety

Lewisburg is home to a small number of really good restaurants. Favorites include Bull Run Inn for classic American fare and the always-amazing Bull Run Dip (seriously, it's a favorite of any Bucknellian who's ever had it); Siam Cafe (Thai food) and Peking Garden for a flair of Asian, Lewisburg Hotel and Victoria's Pub for a bit classier fare, and Elizabeth's American Bistro and Brasserie Louis for parents and business. A number of pizza and wing places round out the list for late-night grub: Dominos (cheap, great pizza and good wings), Pizza Phi (cheap, but maybe not quite as good), Big Andy's Wings & Beyond (great wings and decent pizza), and Larry's Pizza and Wings (arguably better pizza than Dominos). You're guaranteed to hit at least a few of these each semester, as they're all within walking distance. For those with cars, other options include Damon's and Applebees, and maybe a few others in nearby towns, but these represent most of the big places around Market Street and the downtown Lewisburg area.

In terms of cost, most things are pretty affordable, though Lewisburg Hotel and Brasserie Louis are definitely higher on the totem pole, and Elizabeth's is almost exclusively for special occasions and Parent's Weekend. Dominos, Peking Garden, and Larry's are the prime delivery locations, and all three are definitely tailored to college students.

Not Great, but Lewisburg Is a Small Town

There are two main bars in town: Bull Run and Towne Tavern. Both have decent food and many drink specials. A few fancy restaurants and theres some fast food on Route 15. If you don't have a car, eating out is not a great option.

Good

It's cheaper to eat on campus, but when I do eat off campus I'm never dissatisfied. There are a lot of great cafes.
