Bucknell Has Very High Academic Standards and Expects That Your Social Life Will Not Affect Your Academics

The police force is moderately strict but parties are a biweekly event on campus and highly attended. However due to the academic standards keep at bucknell it is expected that nothing get in the way of your academic success

Nice Downtown Lewisburg and Shuttles to Walmart

Coming from a town with just one stop light and lots of cow, I think Lewisburg is adorable. Market Street (the main street downtown) has the Campus Bookstore, lots of little shops and a fair amount of restaurants. From the LC (student center), the bookstore is about 10 to 15 minutes away. The walk is really nice, and I prefer walking, but Bucknell also provides a shuttle to and from the Bookstore on Market Street and to and from Walmart (which is about 5 minutes away and is not as easily walkable). As a freshman, (no car), it's really great to be able to hop on the shuttle if I need something that I can't get on campus. Sidenote: the shuttle leaves campus on the hour every day, and has extended hours on the weekends.

As far as the "local attitude towards students", Lewisburg as a town is a great location for a college because of the good relationship the University has with the residents of Lewisburg. I love getting to meet all of the shopowners downtown, and it's really nice to discover a new part of downtown/the area every time I venture off of campus.

Yummmm

The food here is delicious. Have yet to get sick of it. There are like 3 main options: the caf, the bison, and 7th street, but there are also a ton of places downtown. The plans also cater perfectly to whatever you want. All three switch up menus and offer different things everyday. I'm definitely happy with the food here.

Happier Than Ever

Since coming to Bucknell, I am much happier than I've ever been in my life. I've made so many friends, real friends that actually care about me. I'm from California and I can't afford to go home for minor holiday's but I've had people jumping up and down to host me in their home. Part of my great experience has been made great by being a part of the Arts Residential College, which is a sort of themed housing for freshmen. GO ARTS RES!!!

Greek Life Is Everywhere

As a Freshman guy you feel a little left out because parties are harder to get into, but that all changes once you pledge sophomore year. For those who don't pledge, you shouldn't worry too much as you'll probably have friends in frats who can help you get in, but I would suggest pledging.

Fair (Be Smart)

You'll hear everyone from RA's and teachers to students saying "as long as you're smart, you'll be fine." No one gets in trouble simply for drinking underage, but if you turn violent, start yelling, or are seen stumbling across campus, public safety will probably find you. After that happens, we run on a 10 point scale, usually with a first time alcohol offense earning 1-2 points. Marijuana and other drugs run on a different system, resulting in big fines and mandatory drug classes.

Alcohol > Weed > Coke > Everything Else

Alcohol is definitely everywhere. Lot's of kids smoke, but its usually hidden and within groups of friends. Coke is available for those who want it, but its never forced.

In short, slightly more expensive than average, but TOTALLY WORTH IT!

Love It

There's always something to do on campus and you're never bored. Most of the professors are great and it;s just an all around amazing campus!

My Favorite Place on Earth...For Real

I love Bucknell! and to be honest almost every person I know Loves it too, The level of school spirit at this school is insane for it's size. Once a Bucknellian, always a Bucknellian. Many people dread the thought of leaving Bucknelll on breaks, Bucknell becomes your "home" after only a week of getting here. seriously, i couldn't have even asked for a better place to call home 'RAY BUCKNELL

Amazing Facilities!

Bucknell's gym is amazing! newly renovated in 2003, every things up to date and of great quality. The library is also a great place to go study, there are a lot of quite areas to really focus on work but the library is also a place to just hangout with some friends, there is a little cafe that sells starbucks coffee and has a wide variety of snacks to choose from when you need a break from studying. in general all of bucknell's facilities are of VERY nice quality and usually renovated as soon as they are out of date

Unlimited Options

Bucknell encourages students to take classes that interest them, the liberal arts atmosphere is greatly promoted. The workload is demanding but very manageable. Classrooms and labs are perfectly designed for each class and subject matter. The Career center is one of the greatest aspects of Bucknell. They do a wonderful job finding internships, opportunities and job offers for students.

Professors and Students Take Pride in What They Do.

Every Professor is very determined to see their students learn and are motivated to encourage students to enjoy their academics. Class registration is a bit aggravating but class options are wide.

Safe :)

Bucknell is a completely safe college campus. There is hardly much crime, and security is friendly and always there for you. I feel completely fine walking around alone, during the day or at night.

I Love It

Bucknell is the greatest place on Earth. Study hard, party harder. Everyone is friendly and beautiful.

Fantastic Study Areas

From the outside, Bucknell University is a decently small school with a pretty compact campus. The library is a fine and popular place to study for students. Attending there the past year, I found that there are so many other places one can go to study. There is a place on campus for everyone. My favorite is the small library/study in vaughn lit.

Downtown

Small restaurants are good, however, I rarely went downtown because there was always something going on campus. The Freeze delicious and really inexpensive!

History

Great program with lots of opportunities for research if you choose. I was able to attain an internship this summer in law. The professors are very knowledgeable and truly wish to help their students. It is difficult however to often get into classes that you want to depending on your registration spot (no preference based on GPA). But if you email professors and go talk to them often they will sign you into their class if you express interest.

Very Nice Gym

We have a gym that was renovated around 2000. It's nice, but it is often crowded. Bucknellians are very fit. The library is my favorite. It's actually one of the reasons I loved Bucknell so much when touring. Lastly, our campus is beautifully kept. I can't wait until Spring!

Safety

I feel very safe on campus. I'm not even worried about leaving my stuff around campus...unless it's a Northface.

Completely Fair

Public Safety on campus honestly care about the safety of students, and academic policies are put in place to protect honesty, hard-work, and integrity.

It Works Well

Bucknell is an incredibly expensive school. However, they are definitely willing to work with you. There are no extra forms to fill out or anything, just do your fafsa and they give you money. It was a satisfying experience.

Small Town Is Good Town

Lewisburg is an EXTREMELY small town. Because of this, however, a lot is available to the students at Bucknell. There are so many quaint little shops on the main street of town, but at the same time there are lots of big names that come because of the school.

Liberal Arts at Bucknell

As an accounting major at Bucknell, life couldn't get any better for me. I've had the opportunity to take a wide variety of courses outside my major (History of Modern China, Environmental Studies, and Cultural Anthropology, just to name a few), which have broadened my perspective in ways that a strict accounting curriculum never could.

Bucknell's accounting program also makes it easy to the get the 150 credit hours which are typically required to sit for your CPA. Many students at other schools have to take an extra year or enroll in a master's program. At Bucknell, if you didn't come with any AP credits, you can overload a couple of semesters, and BOOM you're done.

PwC, Deloitte, KMPG, and E&Y all have great relationships with Bucknell and recruit us. We enter the workforce infinitive better prepared than if we had enrolled in accounting programs at our peer schools.

Seasonal

The winters are cold, but no unbearable (I'm from Southern California and I can handle it). It's BEAUTIFUL in the fall and in the spring.
