College Prowler Take
Eating on campus is the same as any other campus: you eventually get tired of the food because it’s the same thing over and over again. However, the food in the Commons has gotten better over the years, thanks to Los Olivos. It’s mostly buffet-style, with a variety of food to choose from: vegetarian, baked goods, a grill, salad bar, and plenty more. Once you find something you like, you’ll probably stick to eating that. There are eight different meal plans that you can choose from, so if you really want to know what the Freshman 15 are, go for the largest possible meal plan! The Marketplace and Bronco Student Center are your best places to grab a bite to eat. U-Hour (short for “University Hour”) is the busiest time of day, and you will be in line for what seems like forever. Either try and get there early, or wait until later to eat. The fastest-moving lines seem to be Kikka and Carl’s Jr. Grabbing one of the pre-made subs at the Subway Express will also save you a few precious minutes of wait-time. Bronco Bucks act as cash on campus when it comes to eating. You can load Bronco Bucks onto your Bronco ID card and use it like a debit card at all dining places on campus, as well as at Pony Express, the Bronco Bookstore, and laundry facilities at the University Village Apartments. If by chance you don’t use all of your Bronco Bucks from the previous quarter, and you live on campus, the Bronco Bucks will roll over to the following quarter; however, they must be used by the end of the academic year.

It’s actually not bad. The Marketplace should have something you like (Panda Express, Carl’s Jr., Taco Bell). If you have some time and some cash, hit up Los Olivos for some buffet-style dining. It’s really not that bad, despite what just about everyone else will tell you. |

Los Olivos Commons is ranked very high among University cafeterias. The food is actually very good, and I am very picky! The food chains available, like Subway, Panda Express, Kikka, Carl’s Jr., and Taco Bell also give a variety of options, from burgers to sushi to salads to tacos. |

If you are looking for a nice snack or a quick breakfast or lunch, my favorite spot is the ENV Café. The atmosphere is nice, the people are friendly, there’s places to sit. They even serve toasted bagels and have doughnuts. |

The Commons are good at first, but after a while, you really only have one favorite food. Like, I would wait for a certain meal to be cooked that week. I usually just ate sandwiches. But that buffet style is what makes the freshmen fat, because you keep going back to get more! |

Dining halls are very good for living on campus, especially since it’s all-you-can-eat buffet style at the Los Olivos Commons. The sandwich and salad bar is usually the safest bet, and also the healthiest. Other food on campus is mostly fast food. The only place I’d recommend is Subway. |
