Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Cal Poly has never been on top when it came to “hot” guys and girls. There are, of course, many attractive people that grace the hallways of CPP, but there are just as many less-attractive ones. If you ask a girl, the guys at CPP are good looking, if not hot. If you ask a guy, the girls are pretty cute, if not dead sexy.

However, Cal Poly is a very diverse campus, which means there is a greater chance of you finding what you’re looking for in your other half! Relationships don’t dominate Cal Poly; the majority of freshmen and sophomores stay single so they can focus on enjoying their college experience. The dorm halls are all coed, although there are no coed rooms. Interesting fact: Cal Poly has no rules in any University housing regarding the opposite sex staying in other rooms. The best way to meet someone attractive is through your classes. The College of Letters, Arts, & Social Sciences (CLASS) and the College of Education and Integrative Studies (CEIS) have the most girls in them, while the College of Engineering and the College of Business have the most guys. If all else fails, head to a fraternity party to find a hottie—there are plenty!

A Lot of Geeks

Being in the Science field, there's not a lot of hot looking girls. However, you do get one or two occasionally but these don't last long. Usually these girls are from other majors. The pretty ones are usually in disguised because they are not preppy due to the extensive studying they have to do for the science courses.

How would you rate the social scene on campus?

Facts

Social Scene

Cal Poly Pomona is primarily a commuter school, so the social scene isn't always the best. The majority of students work, as well as attend class, which means they don't stick around always to socialize. However, those who get involved on campus, through clubs or Greek life, tend to have a rewarding college experience. The most socializing seems to be going on in on-campus housing, the BSC, and the Marketplace.

Hookups or Relationships?

Cal Poly Pomona is evenly divided between hookups and relationships. The younger students, mainly freshmen and sophomores, stick with being single. There are the small majority that come to college already in a relationship. On the other hand, older students tend to be in relationships by the time they graduate.

Dress Code

The dress code at CPP epitomizes Southern California casual. It doesn't matter if it's 97 degrees and sunny, or 58 degrees and rainy—jeans and flip flops rule here. Some girls and guys will dress to impress before coming to school, but they aren't the majority. If someone is dressed up, most of the time it is for a class presentation!
