Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Cal Poly is located smack-dab in the middle of Southern California, which means constant SoCal weather. For commuter students, the only downside of the heat is having to walk across campus from your car to class.

The weather allows CPP to hold the majority of its events outdoors because it is almost always nice. Cal Poly is also close to several beaches, such as Huntington or Newport, so there are always weekend beach trips being planned. Be warned, though: although this means 85% of the school year is hot and sunny, it can get cold and rainy that other 15%!

No need for snow pants; it never snows in Pomona. Make sure you pack an umbrella because California has been known for its torrential downpours. CPP students are notorious for wearing flip-flops every day—even if it’s raining! If there is a need for snow, students make the short drive to Mountain High. After all, even the coldest day at CPP can’t compare to the cold, snowy days some other colleges contend with!

Great Southern California Weather

Its too bad we don't have too many issues with weather because then we would get snow days! But the weather is generally mild and pleasant so classes usually are in session.

Hot,Cold,Wet

When it is hot it is hotter on campus than at home. When it is cold ir is colder on campus. And when it rains some of floors get slippery and it is difficult to walk. I have found myself and other students sharing this difficulty.
