Welcome to the land of clear blue skies and warm, sunny weather. At the heart of Ventura County lies CLU—a prime destination for lovers of sun and shine. From December to March, the weather gets a bit chilly, especially for Southern California natives. But not to worry: Light jackets or a warm, cozy sweater will keep you warm since heavy, fur-lined jackets will only make you sweat. These months also produce sporadic rainy days, so an umbrella will come in handy when the rain randomly replaces the sun. April to November brings hot days that go into the hundreds. Most students don tank tops, shorts, and sandals during the fall semester.
One of the best aspects of living in Thousand Oaks is the close proximity to Southern California’s countless beaches. Students are often seen grabbing their beach bags and towels, and packing into cars to hit the beach, even during November. Malibu, Santa Monica, Zuma, and Point Dume are just a few of the beaches surrounding CLU’s campus. Ventura County beach winds contribute to the cool weather, and though it may get cold for those used to the hot sun, many are thankful for the nearby beaches once they ditch campus after finals and seep their toes deep into the silky sand.
