One of the main draws of living in San Luis is the weather. Since the city is coastal, mornings and evenings tend to be cool, while the fog burns off and temperatures shoot up in the afternoon. The average temperature is 70 F, January through December. This means that students can generally wear flip-flops year-round, which is perfect since most Cal Poly students wouldn't go anywhere without their favorite pair of flip-flops.

Winter is the rainy season, with intermittent showers in the spring. Cold days are never unbearably cold, and of course, it never snows. Summers can get quite hot, but a trip to the beach or pool is always a pleasant way to cool down.
