One of the main draws of living in San Luis is the weather. Since the city is costal, mornings and evenings tend to be cool, while the fog burns off and temperatures shoot up in the afternoon. Winter is the rainy season, with intermittent showers in the spring. Cold days are never unbearably cold, and of course, it never snows.

Summers can get quite hot, but a trip to the beach is always a pleasant way to cool down. Fall time is mild. Pants and T-shirts will do, most of the time. Bring one jacket, a few sweatshirts, pants, shorts, T-shirts, and tank tops. Students’ favorite piece of clothing is generally a pair of well-worn flip-flops.

Awesome!

Go tanning right after classes on Dexter lawn or take a short 5 minute car ride to Avila Beach to soak up the sun. It rarely rains and is sunny about 300 days of the year.

Keep You on Your Toes

Since this is a coastal city, the weather is likely to change on a whim. Occasional fog in the morning around Spring, but it does not last. Good temperature 75% of time

Just Beautiful

One of the biggest draws to Cal Poly, right below the academics and campus atmosphere, is the weather. Sunny, clear days are the norm and even on the very rare days when the sky is looking grey and damp, the view into the distance from any point on campus is pretty breathtaking.
