Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

To put it politely, campus housing is a tad tight when it comes to room sizes. To put it bluntly, the rooms are WAY too small to expect two or even three students to live comfortably together. Each room can be 165 to 184 square feet; that means if two people are living together, each only gets 82 to 92 square feet to fit their entire lives they dragged from home.

Whether or not you like living in the dorms doesn’t relate to size as much as it does to whether or not you and your roommate get along. If you get a fun roomie, you scored big! If you got an awful roommate, you’re out of luck until you can figure out a way to trade rooms. The real reason most people live in the dorms is that it’s a great way to meet new people and socialize. Many students claim that you can’t have the full college experience until you’ve survived at least a year living in the dorms. Living in the dorms allows you to partake in more activites on campus and lets you avoid the horror that is parking and make it to class more easily.

The Residential Suites are much more spacious than the dorms, and something to consider after your first year, as they quickly fill up with upperclassmen. The Suites have their own kitchens, which is a nice change from eating at the Commons at least twice a day. Vista Café is conveniently close to the Suites, as well. A third option for campus housing is the University Village apartments. Most upperclassmen choose to live here because it gives them a little more freedom when it comes to parties and choosing their roommates, while still allowing them to be really close to campus. All apartments are fully furnished, although the furnishings that come with the apartment are bland, and they don’t allow you to bring your own tables or chairs to spice things up.

If You Put Yourself Out There

If you put yourself out there, there are many ways to meet people. The dorms are the best ways to meet new people. I recommend this for Freshmen. The suites are more worth the money, very nice, new, and private. There are many clubs to join as long as you look.

Living in the Dorms

Living in a dorm is like packing three weeks of outfits in a small suitcase. There is little privacy in a room with three girls, but this is the cheapest choice they provide to live on campus. I don't live near my school so I have to live on campus and hope for enough financial aid to pay for all of the expenses. I not only go to school, but I also have a job and am still looking for another job.The nights are long and the food in college taste very weird. There are many nice people to meet but there are also those that you wish weren't so loud when your trying to study for your finals. College life is expensive, but in order to achieve my hopes and dreams I will pay the price and live in the crammed room of a small luggage bag.

Great Environment

Some of the dorms are in need of renovation but they are a great place to learn and hang out with friends!
