Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The computer situation has definitely improved at Cal Poly since the installation of the 24-hour lab, attached to the back of the University Library. This lab always has at least two technicians on hand to help, and there are several printers to keep things running smoothly.

If the 24-hour lab is full, students can simply head to the second floor of the library, where there are even more computers to use. Students can even check out a laptop at the circulation desk if they would rather work in one of the quieter sections of the library. Remember, though, the rented laptops are only for use in the library. The other popular lab to use is called “The Cave” and is located under the Marketplace, next to the Career Center. This lab used to get insanely busy, especially around midterms and finals, but seems to have mellowed out with the help of the 24-hour lab.

Practically every building on campus has their own computer lab, which helps if you need to print a paper and it’s five minutes before class starts. Professors can book the labs, though, so make sure you don’t barge in on a class while it’s in session! Most students simply bring their own laptops to school for use in class.

CPP Computers

I don't use campus computers but I believe there is a serious need for personal computers. It is a very big campus and the only computers I know of are in the library, which is far from my suite and classes. If you live in the dorms you will get no wifi and will have to connect using ethernet cables.
