Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

There are pros and cons to Pomona. Pomona isn’t what one would consider a typical “college town.” It is a more suburban area, with some seedy sections. That being said, Cal Poly Pomona is conveniently located by a large freeway junction that consists of four of Los Angeles County’s freeways coming together: the 10, the 57, the 71, and the 60.

With the help of these freeways, you are 45 minutes away from some of the coolest places in California: Mountain High for snow, Disneyland or Magic Mountain to get your theme park fix, Huntington Beach and Newport Beach for some sun and surf, Hollywood—the list goes on.

Again, the need for a car comes into play. Without a car, you will be stuck on campus every weekend unless you can bum rides off of all your friends for an entire school year. The bus system in Pomona isn’t always reliable and shouldn’t even be considered at night. Basically, the close local atmosphere of Pomona isn’t very secure, which is why most students avoid it. Luckily, there are so many other entertaining options close enough that students accept it. After all, wouldn’t you love to have the option to go to Disneyland and make it back for your 5 p.m. class?

Pomona Is an 'Alright' City

There honestly isnt that much to do in Pomona. There is some music halls and other attractions in surrounding cities, but the actual city of Pomona doesnt have all that much to offer a college student.

Center of Everything

It is no lie when students say that my school is in the middle of everything. I am pleased with the location as there is a wide range of activities to engage in

Great School, Could Be Better

This school has some of the best social interaction ever. There are always clubs and events to get involved with and parties all the time (fraternity's mostly, but some others). Some teachers are not too good, but most do pretty well. No football team, but basketball is great and is the big sport on campus.
