Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

For being surrounded by cows, Cal Poly Pomona has a lot more to offer as far as off-campus dining goes than first meets the eye. Without a venture on the freeway, a student can look forward to chain places right down Valley Boulevard like Chipotle, In-N-Out, Chick-Fil-A, and El Pollo Loco. In the other direction, down Temple Avenue, there is a wide variety of Asian restaurants that serve anything from boba to pho.

And if you are willing to brave the shadier areas of Pomona, there are great hole-in-the-wall places to check out, like Ginka Bowl on Holt Avenue that has excellent teriyaki bowls at great prices for college students. A late-night favorite is Alberto's, located on Holt Avenue, as well. One of the other CPP-only places right next to school is Cantina Express, which serves great, cheap, Mexican food, and affordable drinks if you’re 21 or older. If you are willing to drive a little farther on the freeway, you can find yourself at Westfield West Covina Mall, which has great places to take your parents to when they come to visit (and is in a much nicer area) like California Pizza Kitchen and BJ’s Brewery. Of course, Pomona is always a 30-minute drive from downtown LA on a normal day, which can open you up to any kind of cuisine that you could possibly be craving, whether it’s a classic sushi restaurant in Little Tokyo, or a French bistro in the business district.

Cal Poly Pomona

The campus square is nearly a minute away and has a great and affordable variety of food. Also across from campus their is a Farm Store where the campus grows and sells organic and student made merchandise. The are many benefits of eating around campus and have good variety of healthy and pleasure foods.

The college is surrounded by several small restaurants. There are various foods one can find. They can range from Chinese, Japanese, and Thailand restaurants to Mexican restaurants like Mexican Grill to fast food restaurants like Jack in the Box, Wendy's, and Carl's Jr. Others are Subway and Denny's.
