What to Pack
  • Allergy medicine for the spring
  • A fan if you're not used to the heat
  • A good pair of rain boots for winter and spring showers
  • A lot of cool items
  • Swimwear for the campus pool or the beach
Did You Know? Always carry a jacket or sweater if plans may go into the evening. It may get chilly, and it's good as a back-up plan. It's best to have three jackets at one's disposal—one formal jacket for social events, an everyday jacket for a quick grab and go, and a thick jacket for the extreme cold, especially for anyone who wishes to visit the mountains during the winter.

Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

It's California—land of the unpredictable, bipolar weather. Depending on the season, it could be cold and storming one moment and sunny the next. Overall, though, expect blue skies and, at times, extreme heat. A typical California day involves a chilly morning, a hot day, and a cool evening.

On most summer days, the heat starts to set in as early as 7 or 8 a.m. The weather makes it great for enjoying a day in the school pool or taking walks around campus. During the fall, the sun still shines, and the weather is warm until about November, when the chill starts to set in. Rain will fall, though not too much, but you can expect at least three inches of rain in December. Then spring starts to shy in, which means some spring showers, but besides that the sun heats everything up. The weather is not hard to predict. It's mostly sunny, but California will throw the occasional curve ball.

Very Nice Weather Actually

Very seldom do we get rain here so it's no big deal if it rains when it does. There's room as well to eat or study and there's actually a way to get around from the math/science building, to the library, to the food court without getting wet if one goes downstairs instead. Otherwise the weather is great. There are cold days but that's something that's granted, in general the weather is pretty nice and sunny.
