Opened in 1994, CSUMB has since been a work in progress. Although the University has made great strides within the past 16 years, much of the school appears to not be fully developed and is still in the process of improvement. Most students’ experiences at CSUMB appear to be both love and hate. On one side, students are happy to attend a small institution that is located in the beautiful Monterey Bay and is among the cheaper CSU campuses. Unfortunately, issues such a poor athletics and the lack of exciting campus activities are enough to give students an overall negative perspective toward the school. It is no secret, however, that CSUMB has a rather large transfer/drop out rate and many students would choose to transfer if given the chance. Despite this, many feel that they are being properly prepared for the future and look forward to their upcoming years at CSUMB. Like many things, it seems that the university will only get better with age.
