Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Despite CSUN’s varsity teams’ success as a Division I school, not many students attend the games. Certain teams are more popular than others. The men’s basketball team has their faithful Bullpit made up of students who attend every game and stand the entire time yelling obscenities at the other team, and turning their back when the opposing team enters the court. But most teams don’t receive the same recognition. The majority of students who attend games are athletes themselves who come out to support other teams. Although most students don’t head out to cheer on the athletes, they are aware of the school’s athletic accomplishments.

Intramural sports also have few participants. Sororities and fraternities make up the bulk of intramural team members. They really go at each other on the field and make it exciting by building up rivalries. Intramurals are also popular for clubs including the Latino Business Association, and the Deaf Students Association. But other than that, intramural teams are made of students living in the dorms. But due to the lack of organization and communication between the intramural office and the students participating, playing in intramurals can be frustrating. If you aren’t part of a sorority, fraternity or club team, the best thing to do is to make your own team so you can share in the excitement and competition with your friends. Otherwise, you end up playing on a team of people that you don’t know, and it’s too easy to forget about the game—and before you know it, you won’t care at all.

CSUN..!!

Wish We Had A Football Team. Our basketball team is O.K.! The games are fun and the guys are sorta cute but I'm more a football type of gal. We don't really have great school spirit but I think it is because our school is commuter school.

School Sports

Due to school budget cuts, our school is suffering with offering students with a variety of sports. Over the past decade, according to campus staff, the costs to afford and help maintain sports such as our formal football & water polo departments have been cut from our school. It is seriously sad to see this happen because overall as an effect, its impacting our school spirit as students are not really engaging in our school's athletic program. When compared to other schools, students tend to carry more pride and are more engaged with their school due to the highly participation from athletic department, however, the only thing that CSUN has to offer in terms of creating a more student-college engaging involvement is within the variety of organizations amongst the greek community.

Most Popular Sports

The most popular sports at CSUN are probably baseball/softball, basketball, and soccer. For family and friends, tickets are not expensive to buy. It is not difficult to get tickets for the game, but the best seats go first, so it’s better to arrive early. Getting tickets for the big games can be difficult, especially for basketball.

Most Overlooked Teams

The women’s golf team is practically invisible at CSUN even though they have won the Big West Conference twice since CSUN became a Division I school. It seems that no one knows that CSUN has a winning women’s golf team. Also, soccer attendance is low considering their outstanding accomplishments.

Getting Tickets

For tickets, call (818) 677-2488. All students receive free admission to all regular season home games with a student ID.
