Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

One of the most exciting aspects about living on campus is the apartment-style housing of the dorms. All rooms have a large bathroom, two large bedrooms, kitchen, TV room, and dining area. These spacious dorms make it easier to have roommates since you aren’t cramped. A word of caution: get to know your roommates in the beginning and lay groundwork, because it can save you trouble in the long run working out nasty arguments. Dorm keys are cards, which makes them easy to lose. (Tip: Hole punch it and put it on your key chain.)

The CSUN dorms have a very relaxed atmosphere. Most days are quiet, but many students agree that the dorms lack that social buzz that carries throughout many other university dorms. However, one advantage of this atmosphere is that it makes the dorms a more study-friendly environment. Freshmen tend to be the minority since many returning students live in the dorms. As a freshman, you can live in the only all-freshman building in the dorms, Pinon. This can be one of the craziest buildings, but students get to know each other really well, really fast. Otherwise, try to get into a Living Learning Community that suits your major. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee of living in the dorms after freshman year since there is a lottery system that chooses the students that can return. Returning students have a good chance of being picked, and most want to live in the dorms again because of the convenient walk to campus, access to free wireless Internet, and the facilities and beautiful environment.

I Like the Dorms

They are basically all the same. I like the swimming pools too. The only thing bad is that my current dorm doesn't have an elevator and I live on the third floor.

I Cant Really Tell You

I have had friends who lived in the dorms of CSUN, but never asked how the rooms where. I didnt see the knowledge and insight from that would have helped me in life or in school.
