In the last five years CSUN has constructed 7 new buildings, including a new performing arts center, University Student Union, arts, media and communication building, health and human services building, two parking structures, the Sierra Center and new wings of the library. CSUN is rapidly becoming one of the most modern universities in the nation. In fact, the pristine look of the facilities at CSUN may be the first thing that strikes you when you walk onto campus.

CSUN is only a 50-year-old campus, and when put into perspective CSUN is a very young school compared to most, and since the earthquake in 1994, almost everything has been rebuilt. The downside is there tends to be a considerable amount of construction going on. CSUN’s fitness center offers the typical gym activities including cardio machines, weight machines, free weights, and an aerobics room, but nothing super impressive. The membership fee is a great deal at about $70 per semester ($3 a week). Although CSUN doesn’t have a movie theater or bowling alley on campus, the surrounding area makes up for it with four theaters and two bowling alleys close by.

Very Good Facilities

The school just built a new athletic facility which is very nice and spacious. A lot of new equipment and is open to all currently enrolled students. The library is also very useful but there are many students who do talk loudly and are disruptive to other students who are trying to study. Student centers are also available such as tutoring and health centers.

CSUN Cares

The facilities are great. That the USU (student center) questions answered, upcoming events are always known of (whether leisurely or for a purpose), place to relax after finals or before mid-terms. There is always something to do or someone to help out. The health center offers a lot from being safe when it comes to sex to how to get fit or stay healthy. Professors as well as tutors are always helpful and give great advice and tips, as well as counselors who always support one's decisions into being whatever major one chooses, and there is always a place on campus to have time to oneself. Whether it is at the Oviatt library, under the trees, at the Garden Grove, or just to have a look in the Matador Bookstore, there is alway somewhere to relax and to also keep focused.
