Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Most students feel safe and secure on campus, and they’re not too concerned about being victims. However, sometimes thefts occur. Because Sac State is a commuter school, a lot of cars go through it every weekday, so that’s when the car thieves come out. But the frequency of car thefts and break-ins isn’t enough to make everyone afraid of parking at the school. Many students who’ve gone to classes for years have never had any problems. The campus security force is barely noticeable, except in the parking lot. Cops patrol from time to time to make sure no one speeds or runs stop signs, but for a school servicing so many, you’d expect a larger security force. Student security officers handle most on-campus police duties, but a large number of students don’t even notice the student security force. After all, there are about 17 guards assigned to a population of almost 30,000, so they tend to get lost. No matter what the atmosphere, stay alert. You never know what could happen, and people who aren’t on their guard are ripe for theft or other criminal activity. A typical Sac State student fits this profile, so if you come to this school, don’t let it happen to you. Although it’s a safe place to get a degree, it’s no crime-free paradise.

Getting Better

A year or so ago we had some issues on campus. CSUS immediately repsonded a amped up the security, provided more lights and emergency phones on campus for those who have to walk to the parking structures or dorms. They also provided someone to drive you to your car if need be.

Sac State Security

The security at CSUS is fantastic. If you're on campus late at the library or have a late class, you can call campus police to escort you to your car. There is also a bus that can come around and pick you up or drop you off if you are also on campus late. Student safety is a priority at CSUS.

Safe

It is very safe but there are occasional theft and rape at Sac State. They post it all over the school but most people don't even look at it. It is safe but not always or if you are alone it is MOST unsafe, especially if you are a female.
