Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Sacramento is a dining paradise, and Sac State is located right in the middle of it. Many students choose not to eat on campus, and they’re very satisfied with the alternative. It’s difficult to make a grand statement about what Sac State students like because there’s so much to choose from, and they go virtually anywhere and everywhere for food. Popular places like Dos Coyotes near the Arden Mall are good, as are the numerous places like Buca Di Beppo down Howe Avenue. Not only is the selection vast, but the quality is delectable. Forget the fast food on campus, we’re talking restaurant quality here. These are the same places that native Sacramentans go to, and they love them. Sac State students are no exception. Although you can get everything you need on campus, the on-campus eateries just can’t match the selection of a whole city full of restaurants. If you’re willing to sacrifice convenience for a little adventurous dining, then head out and start looking—you won’t be disappointed. Unfortunately, students with enough time to leave campus to eat are discouraged by campus parking. Leaving school in the middle of the day means giving up a spot that won’t be there when you return. And competition for parking at Sac State is analogous to two mountain lions hunting for the last deer. In a word: savage.

Not a Lot of Healthy Places/Overpriced Coffee

The Java City on Campus is overpriced and the coffee tastes burnt, most of the places to eat on Campus are fast food places such as Panda Express, Burger King, etc.

The coffee in the bookstore is an excellent deal though. fifty cents for a cup of coffee, and they never charge for soy milk--an extra .60 at both Java City and Starbucks.

CSUS Dining Experience

CSUS is located in midtown, so it's in the center of all the action while also quietly tucked away from the all the hustle and bustle of downtown. Lots of places to go to eat around this area.

What's Around Campus?

Sacramento has some very good but expensive restraunts. The ones located close to our campus dorms that are convient are Taco Bell, Mcdonalds, and Dennys. These places are neither healthy of satisfying. If we wanted to get good food we would have to use public transportation.
