Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

There’s something liberating about having your own apartment, even when it’s frustrating. Sacramento has a lot of them to choose from, but they all have negative factors in common: bills and ever-increasing rent. Living on your own comes with new freedoms and a truckload of hassles. The average rent in Sacramento increases slowly but steadily, and college-student paychecks don’t rise to keep up with it, so in most cases, expect to have a roommate or two. And then, on top of rent, you have to worry about food, utilities, and gas. California has some of the most expensive gas in the country. Several people recommend, sometimes jokingly, to stay with your parents as long as you can if you happen to come from nearby. Most younger Sac State students went to high school in or around the Sacramento area, so this is a popular option. It doesn’t really do too much for you, though, if you’re ready to leave your teenage life (and your parents) behind for a more adult lifestyle. Just remember: beggars can’t be choosers. When times are tough and you’re strapped for cash, pride might have to be the first thing to go. You may find yourself living like a little kid all over again under Mom and Dad’s roof. If this isn’t an option for you, get a good part-time job and learn to be wise with your paychecks—you’re going to need them.

Fairly Good Selection

They apartments very close to campus are extremely expensive but I was able to find one only 7 miles from campus in a very nice complex for very cheap. There are cheap places out there but the majority of the apartments near any college are very expensive.

Perfect, but Security

The off housing selection at my school, is actually very good. I live in some apartments near campus and they are awesome. There is nice housing around the University. The cost is not bad at all, the parking is great. The safety is average, a little more security would be great.

Hard to Find, Expensive, Not Worth the Price.

The Prices here are way over board and not only do they not provide furniture but were college students we can't afford that. I've only seen one place thats worth the price but is in a dangerous area to live, things constantly get stolen and the managers try to take advantage over customers.
