The CSUSM experience is generally a positive one for most students, despite a few minor issues now and again. The parking on campus is a huge deterrent for many students, who often grow easily frustrated with the process. Plus, the price of the parking pass alone is unfair and highly priced.

Another issue students often face is trying to get an academic advising appointment, a process which is often difficult and a hassle. Because of this, some students try to figure out for themselves what classes are needed and when to take them, when ultimately they need some guidance. Also, the food on campus is not that great. In order to have a good meal, most students have to drive off campus, which is a pain. Finally, another issue is the printing or copying on campus, which is too overpriced. On a positive note, once a week, vendors come on campus sometimes to give away free food or gear.
