My night/party life here on campus is not extreme. There are times when here at school they have events such as open mic night and stuff like that which will be the only night/party life for me.
I was a commuter student, but as far as I could tell there were small parties in dorms and stuff like that, nothing too crazy.
Across the street from the campus is a sports bar that gets busy on the weekends. The Alcapulco's restaurant has a club atmosphere with DJ and dance floor on San Marcos Blvd. Party's are mostly at friends' houses.

The nightlife around the CSUSM area is kind of dull. There are only a few bars in the area for students who are 21 and older.
There are many on-campus student activities to participate in, on or near campus for students who are 18 years and older. Students that are of age 21 usually go to have a drink by heading to the beach or coastal cities that support a much older crowd and lifestyle.
