The weather is generally hotter in the summer and spring months. San Marcos, like many other North San Diego communities, experiences rain, hail, thunderstorms, fog, and windy weather, but these weather occurrences are unusual for the area.

Southern California weather is not dramatic throughout each season, and most residents and visitors have a hard time telling which season they are experiencing. San Marcos is located a short distance inland from the beach weather, so there isn't always a beach breeze, which makes the weather much hotter during the warmer months.
