Canisius College Campus Dining had a new discussion posted by hannitta08

There are lots of options, including a Subway, Tim Hortons, a campus run pizza place, dining hall, and sports bar type place. By sophomore year I was getting a little tired of dinner options, but I felt like I could always find something good for breakfast and lunch. There are several grocery stores nearby and there is a shuttle that will take you to them most weekends, so cooking is also a practical option. Overall, I feel that the food at Canisius may not always be the best, but it is better than most schools.

Campus dining at Canisius is not the best. Food selection mostly involves some sort of cheese, grease, pasta, or sauce. There is always a salad bar, but that's about where the exotic supply of "vegetables" ends. Fruit is also hard to find. There are little pre-made snack cups with sliced fruit, raw vegetables, and the like, but it is annoying not to have any good, solid meals that represent more than one or two food groups.

Meal plans can have varying amounts of meal "blocks" and "Griff Bucks," which can be spent on mostly anything: Tim Hortons, vending machines, snack bars, and coverage if your meal exceeds a "block." Typical meal plan cost ranges from $3,000 to $4,000 per year. Subway is a recent addition to campus, which opens up some slightly healthier options. Subway is not affiliated with meal plans, though, meaning you need cash, credit, or debit to buy its food instead of your ID card.
