Canisius does not have a drug problem, if you're thinking along the lines of crack, heroin, LSD, and ecstasy. Alcohol is the preferred vice of many an underage student, followed by marijuana and tobacco, with a slightly smaller percentage of the student body using these substances. A few abuse prescription drugs, usually of the painkiller variety. There is perhaps more pressure to drink than anything else, but the many alcohol awareness events Canisius holds somewhat lessens it.

Canisius prohibits possession, manufacture, distribution, buying, selling, and the use of drugs and alcohol on its property or within affiliated activities. A violation of these rules can mean a mandatory rehabilition program, fines, community service, suspension, expulsion, loss of employment, loss of privileges, and/or prosecution.
