Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Carleton has two dining halls, Burton and East. East is a fairly new facility and serves more than 60 percent of the campus; Burton is older and caters mostly to Burton, Sevy, Davis, and Musser Hall residents. Carleton has recently changed food providers, from Sodexho to Bon Appetit, and this change is very noticeable. The food is much healthier, and arguably tastier, though opinions vary wildly. The Snack Bar has been renamed Sayles-Hill Café, and the fast food is, for the most part, gone. Each dining hall also has a different ethnic food choice. Burton specializes in Mexican food, whilst East specializes in South-Asian dishes.

Pretty Decent

I actually find the food to be pretty good which is a lot better than most college campuses. There are always vegetarian and vegan options and a large variety of other foods. Sure, it gets a little repetitive but anything would after 10 weeks.

Meh

The food is great for the first couple of weeks, but then the chefs start repeating some of the meals and everything seems too familiar. There are always lots of vegetarian and vegan options, though, if that's a necessity.

Decidedly Okay

Carleton meal plans, obligatory for on-campus students, are quite expensive for not too much value. That said, the food is on the better side of average. There is usually SOMETHING to eat in the dining halls, and sometimes it's something delicious. Sayles is a good bet for tasty food on your schedule.
