For a small town, Northfield has a good variety of restaurants. There are pizza places that all serve the same style pizza, so the prices are pretty low. Due to the large immigrant population, the Mexican cuisine is deliciously authentic and reasonably priced. El Tequila has revamped the restaurant to provide a comfortable eating environment. Las Delicias is a great place to grab a burrito, cream soda, and watch Telemundo soap operas. Just stay away from anything that has sausage. (They actually just cut up hot dogs and mix them with refried beans!)

Subway and Quizno's lose much of their business to the healthier, better tasting, and equally priced Hogan Brothers. Domino's Pizza has a difficult time competing with the family-owned pizza joints, but they do rake in sales with $6 pizza specials on Thursdays. The Carleton culture is so anti-McDonald's that you'll most likely be ostracized if you bring Big Macs onto campus. Taco Bell is always a Saturday afternoon hot spot, but their food pales in comparison to the abundant authentic Mexican cuisine. If you get tired of Northfield's options, there's a plethora of eclectic restaurants in the Twin Cities. If given the choice, you should explore the restaurants in St. Paul rather than Minneapolis, as St. Paul is 20 times easier to navigate than its twin city.
