Pittsburgh weather is pretty enjoyable and warm in the summer and in the fall. In the winter it's typical of the mid-atlantic region: cold, snowy and rainy.

Guys & Girls:
There is a diverse group of girls on campus, however there are maybe only about 20 guys that live on campus so with that ratio there isn't really any point in looking for someone to be in a stable heterosexual relationship with.

Greek life at Carlow University is generally nonexistent outside of Alpha Phi Omega, the service fraternity. I believe the campus is apart of local city-wide chapters of different organizations, but there are only a handful of active members on campus.

The weather in Pittsburgh is unpredictable, and it often snows in the winter. Classes do not usually get cancelled, which can make it very difficult to get to class because I commute. For those living on campus, classes are easily accessible. But for those living off campus, it makes the commute far more challenging and can compromise the safety of the students.

Nursing is extremely time consuming and very content-rich. It takes lots of studying and dedication to be successful. There are options for academic support and tutoring, which are helpful in order to ensure success and reinforce material. The instructors truly care about each student and make sure their needs are met. When I graduate, I will be prepared for the working world and will be able to put the skills I learned to use.

Health & Safety:
I have never felt unsafe on Carlow's campus. No crime really happens because its an all girl school and campus police are everywhere. Its a beautiful campus on a hillside; small, calm, and collected.

There is a ton of nightlife but it is mostly for 21 year olds. However, they have lots of historical buildings and museums right in Pittsburgh for those under the age of 21. At night time hangout at your friends place. Transportation is easy to get. Just stand at a bus stop they run all the time.

In order to pass a class you must maintain a 79% exam average in the class. If you still have above a 79% but not the average for EXAM grade, you have to retake the class. Also, you must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or you receive one warning and then are kicked out of the program.

I do not live on campus. But what I've seen and heard, it's a good atmosphere. Very in order, but still college-like.

Very strict on academic excellence. Carlow wants everyone to succeed. Police are all polite, but still keep the campus safe.

It is more diverse than I once heard it was. I am comfortable there. Everyone is treated fairly regardless of ethniticity.

There are lots of different races and people of economical status at this school.

I'm pretty familiar with the Pittsburgh area because I grew up there. I'm going to be a freshman this upcoming fall and I'm going to be a Nursing Major. I'm very excited and love how friendly everyone is on the campus! It will also be fun to go around to the different shops in the Oakland area with friends.

Off Campus housing is expensive and hard to find. The safety of the surrounding areas is ambiguous.

Guys & Girls:
At Carlow, there are more girls than boys. It is open to both genders and Carlow is like a big family. For the most part, everyone knows and or seen each other before. It is very open and very diverse. It truly is a great school to go to.

I am unsure of what it will be like getting an internship since I am a Freshman, but I have heard nothing but good things about Carlow Students and internships.

Getting in to some programs are harder than other ones. It depends on the Major that the person chooses. Nursing at Carlow is a little bit harder to get in to. Being in the HR and Technology Major, I got in to it right away and most of my classes transferred to this Major. Having good grades and showing community service and other activities participated in and out of school are an excellent thing to see on a transcript.

They Majors at Carlow are exceptionally well. I was a nursing major, and the teachers were so nice and helpful. Recently I changed my major, and the teachers that I previously had still keep in contact with me and said if I ever needed anything I can go to them. Having smaller classes give you the opportunity to have a close relationship with professors and they know how you learn and are very willing to help if you fall behind. The facilities at Carlow are extremely clean and up to date for the most part. If you are looking for a job, Carlow has work study options and as well as once you graduate, Carlow's acceptance rate is extremely high into some big name programs and places.

To be quite honest, my favorite thing about my University is the staff. My chemistry teacher, Doctor Hockman takes a special interest in making sure we all succeed. She thoroughly goes through all of the material, offers practice problems with an answer key, bonus points, and special one on one time if necessary! Also, for mathematics Doctor Peters is a great teacher who eleminates some low quiz scores in order to help the students out with their grades! it's a relief knowing that the staff is accessible if you feel lost!

the parking situation is very limited. if you are a science major and take the majority of your classes at AJ Palumbo hall, you better have an 8 am in order to park in the primary lot! otherwise, you literally have to park about two miles away and it's all uphill!! other than that, the facilities are very very clean especially the restrooms! the janitorial staff is constantly buzzing about emptying trash and tyding up!

Health & Safety:
I feel very safe at Carlow University. Not once had I felt threatened or afraid to walk around, regardless. The campus police are there if you need them, yet they do not pester you for unwarranted reasons. I genuinely love this school!

Carlow University offers a small community, small class sizes, and strong relationships with faculty members. Since the campus is relatively small, it is easy for a person to get to know everyone. Another important quality about Carlow University is it's location; even though Carlow is located in Oakland, one would not believe so when walking on campus. However, the Carnegie and Pitt museums are only a block or two away, and the cultural district is only a bus ride.

Carlow University has many student friendly places on campus, whether it is for studying, relaxing, or hanging out with friends. The residence hall building has a lounge, computer lab, food place, art gallery, study spaces, and televisions for comfort. The other buildings on campus also offer quiet study spaces, food options, and unique departments such as a Hopkins Communication Lab. Carlow University values the quality of the experience they are providing to students and has renovated the gardens on campus along with adding a waterfall. Another wonderful thing about Carlow University is the variety of student organizations that are offered on campus, they range from being major specific, social and service sororities, to ASB groups, campus activities board, to student government association. If a student is interested in getting involved, Carlow is sure to offer what they are looking for.

The computer labs at Carlow University range in performance. When a computer is acting up, the IT department makes it a priority to fix. In the AJP building, there is a new computer lab called the STEM Lab where students can now print in color for only five cents more. The computer labs that are difficult to print in are obviously the ones most used by students. Sometimes the network reliability and speed are very slow, but the technology department is working on fixing this by conducting questionnaires and studies. Additionally, they have tried to enforce students who are close to an ethernet outlet, to plug in their laptop rather than using the wifi.

Carlow University offers parking permits that are cost based on how many tuition credits a student has. The campus police are very strict at making sure cars without parking permits are ticketed and fined. However, you can fight the parking ticket fine and can get out of it if you have a legitimate reason. For students who live on campus, having a car is not allowed. Although, if you are able to provide documentation stating that you need the car, Carlow will let you keep a car if you pay the parking permit cost.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
