College Prowler Take
The University Center is the focal point of campus life at CMU. It contains numerous eateries, a gym, basketball court, and meeting rooms. It’s also a great place to just sit and chill between classes. The UC is only a few years old, and the building itself is an impressive piece of architecture. Athletic facilities in the UC include an enormous basketball court/gymnasium, a small but adequate weight room, ?ve racquetball courts, and an aerobics room. Skibo Gym, a larger athletic facility, is also located on campus. Skibo is an old, poorly-maintained gym that attracts dedicated weightlifters and varsity athletes.
On the whole, the campus is aesthetically pleasing. Some students have even said that the College of Fine Arts building is the reason that they came to Carnegie Mellon. It is a stunning structure to be enjoyed by all students, but it’s casual yet austere air is most compatible with art, design, and architecture majors. There are also some buildings that re?ect the campus’ industrial bent: Wean Hall is the largest poured concrete building in the country. However, most students admit it’s one of the most repulsive buildings they’ve ever seen. It’s recommended to tour the campus before attending CMU. Most prospective students are charmed by its quaint yet busy atmosphere and interesting architecture.

The facilities on campus are just...
The facilities on campus are just one step below excellent. Athletic facilities for sports team members are exclusive, and everything was just rebuilt, expect a regular gym and stuff for non-team members. Hunt library, the main library is very convenient, as it has a coffee shop inside and several quiet study areas for optimal focus.

Most of the facilities on campus...
Most of the facilities on campus are really nice. The library and the University Center (student center) are really nice. Some of the dorms and other buildings are older, but they're well kept.

They look good on the outside, but inside every building looks like it hasn't been remodeled since the 1920s.

Architecturally speaking, it's...
Architecturally speaking, it's really diverse. The only qualm I have about this is the numbering of the floors on Wean and Doherty, which are connected—they don't align. I would say that the athletic facilities are good. The student center is nice, and there's a lot of space to hang out or people watch. Hunt library is pretty nice and is open all time, plus it has Maggie Murph Café, which is now open 24 hours. It is amazing when you're in the library until 4 a.m. and need coffee, because inevitably you will be in the library until 4 a.m. at least once.

FactsWhat To Do on Campus
Between classes you can break a sweat in the gym, cool off in the pool, take in a play, grab a bite to eat, or settle down to a $1 movie without ever leaving campus.
Favorite Things To Do
The school shows a lot of movies, and these are very popular with students looking to relax for a few hours. Plays in the Purnell Center often draw larger crowds than most football games, and there’s always someone in the computer clusters—whether they’re doing work or playing a game. Skibo Coffeehouse often holds student readings and open mic nights, and Rangos Hall (in the University Center) is host to concerts, guest speakers, dance competitions, and fashion shows.
